We had a wonderful week at La Conchiglia in early October. The weather was changeable with some rain, but that’s the chance you take at that time of year. The Hotel is in a peaceful location but within a 10 min walk of the train station, so you can get out and about and explore this beautiful region of Italy easily. The train service is excellent and far exceeds British Rail. The Trenitalia app is excellent and well worth downloading and using to save you the queues at the ticket machines. Tropea is only 10 mins away by train and it is well worth spending the day exploring there. The one thing that struck me about the Hotel was the friendliness and warmth of the team. Headed up by Augustine, the Hotel Director, all of the staff were just so welcoming. By the time we left at the end of the week we knew many of them by name. Giuseppe and Mimo in the Bar in particular were just fabulous. Attilla the entertainments manager was great fun and a lovely person. Henrik and Katerina were very friendly and not pushy at all if you didn’t want to join in the activities. The chefs in the kitchen were rightly proud of the speciality dishes they presented. The pasta every evening was without fail, delicious. Luana on reception was warm, friendly and helpful. We have never been to an all inclusive Hotel where the Hotel Director has been so present all the time. Augustine was there from Breakfast to the end of the evening. Overseeing everything, chatting to the guests and he obviously really cared and had a great relationship with his team. It was fantastic to see. Our room was great. Located by the main pool and very comfortable. Peaceful outside of entertainment hours which suited us well There were a couple of things which would have made our stay a tiny bit better, but certainly weren’t a major issue. The restaurant needs to purchase some more coffee cups and wine glasses and a bit more vigilance on when these, and things like butter and milk run out on the buffet (and in the coffee machines) would be great. If you’re going on holiday, looking for an all singing, all dancing all inclusive hotel with all the frills this is not for you. It is a lovely, small and friendly resort with a personal touch, and for this price point it was well worth it. I feel sad that there have been so many guests that haven’t really understood the difference or done their research and have criticised the hotel and team as a result. Look at the hotel spec before you book and find a sprawling one with the multiple restaurants, bars & pools and full service if that’s what you want and you want to pay for it! The sunsets were gorgeous, the pizza and pasta excellent and Prosecco and Peroni on tap. What else do you need?!! Thank you to the La Conchiglia team for a wonderful holiday!

We liked this hotel immediately. The low buildings and the beautiful garden create a lovely and pleasant atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful. The view of the Tyrrhenian Sea with the Stromboli volcano and the sunset is amazing. The beach and the water in the sea are lovely. Our room was impeccable. Good bed, large and clean bathroom, plenty of closet space for clothes. The entertainment in the evening (from 9-11 pm) was very good in our opinion. Varied program and good atmosphere every night. Different types of quizzes, karaoke, White night with birthday celebration. And we got to dance to good and varied music. The team in charge of the entertainment was inclusive to all the guests. Thanks to Sandibel, Gaetano and Attila. After 11pm it becomes completely quiet, so no problem with noise. We liked the environmental initiative to limit the use of plastic bottles. In the bar and the restaurant we could fill the bottle with water, also at the beach bar. If there is one thing we could have wished had been better, it must be the coffee machine. The capacity is too poor related to the number of guests. There was often a queue, the machine quickly ran out of coffee and milk, and it also took time before it was refilled. Could there have been some jugs of hot water next to it, so you don't have to stand in a coffee queue to get hot water for tea?

“Lovely Chilled out holiday”

Lovely hotel, very clean, friendly staff. 10 minutes walk to train station, we visited Tropea and Pizzo both worth a visit, book tickets on line to save joining the large queue at the station. Lovely hotel, very clean, friendly staff. 10 minutes walk to train station, we visited Tropea and Pizzo both worth a visit, book tickets on line to save joining the large queue at the station. Golf buggy to beach with sun beds, bar and toilets, again very clean. Rooms were good and amazing shower. Always managed to find something to eat but could have been better as it is supposed to be a 4 star hotel, would expect freshly cooked eggs and omelette to order at breakfast and there was no fresh pizza on offer. In Italy you would expect a decent wine, but not the case, watered mine down. Everyone was friendly, staff and holiday makers. We had a lovely chilled out holiday.
