This hotel was a great find in the wonderful little town of Minori. We returned to England today (18/6) after a four night stay. Central to everything - less than a minutes' walk to the ristorante giardiniello (highly recommended - we had dinner twice /book with Giovanni) and the sal de riso (great patisserie, coffee, restaurant....). Boats to Amalfi, Positano (very crowded), Maiori (to Sorrento/Capri) and Salerno within two minutes' walk. The staff at the hotel were lovely - from check-in to efficiently arranging the taxi this morning at a competitive price to take us to Amalfi airport. We had a rear facing room with a small balcony and could hear (with an open door) little children singing at school which was a joy to hear on a week day morning. Room was comfortable and clean (our cleaning lady was really helpful and nice) with the added bonus of being able to log in to amazon/netflix movies if you have an account. Minori feels very safe for women travellers and families. The only negative remark generally on the Amalfi coast is the high cost of eating out. It's higher than most restaurants in England but it's a wonderful experience. The Italians really know how to do "il dolce far niente" well. It's contagious and therapeutic.

It’s a grand old building, with a touch of opulence throughout reception and adjoining public spaces via comfortable couches, marble, mirrors, flowers, piano and bar. Check in and out at the Minori Palace was easy. The reception staff very pleasant, although their English is a little stilted, it’s still a lot better than my Italian fluency, which is basic, but we got along OK. To access the rest of the hotel from the reception you have a choice of a small lift or gorgeous sweeping marble staircases. My room on the second floor, although smaller than other rooms I’ve stayed while in Italy, was pleasant with elegant, understated décor. I had a lovely big door, that converted to a window that led to a little balcony with two plastic chairs. Great for watching the coming and goings of the street below and gazing up the mountain side to the lemon groves. In fact, I think this building was planned to take in those spectacular views. The bed had an upholstered bedhead. Unfortunately, the left mattress was very uncomfortable. It needs replacing because it has a big dip in it. I guess that’s the mattress closest to the shower and exit door so gets used the most. I was lucky being a solo traveller, I was able to just move to the other side of the bed. This mattress was fine, very comfortable. Along side the bed are bedside alcoves with power points and lighting. The bathroom is very compact so access between the shower stall, toilet and vanity was narrow and I’m not a big person. The bathroom was very clean fitted out with basic toiletries; soap, body wash and shampoo, no conditioner or tissues and there was lots of hot water. A small point, the laminate on the vanity could do with an upgrade as it has flaked away down to the MDF in places. Little things like this downgrade the overall appearance of the suite. Supplied with the room were a kettle with tea and coffee sachets, cups, saucers and spoons, a safe, bottled water, a mini fridge and wardrobe, a desk and chair. The hotel has its own restaurant where breakfast and dinner are served during set hours. The breakfast menu was a simplified blend of English breakfast and Continental breakfast, so it covered most bases. The restaurant staff were very attentive and friendly. I only had one evening meal there as I was travelling as part of a group, so there were other activities organized, but the dinner I had was well presented and very tasty, but should you wish to eat other places there are a number close by of varying prices, menus and food quality. The hotel is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the main road through the village but not isolated. In closing I would like to comment on my housekeeper, I’m sorry I don’t know her name but she was possibly Ukrainian. She was lovely, and very concerned when she realized that I was unwell during my stay offering to get me extra bottles of water and any other small service she could do for me. For this small service I was very grateful.

This hotel is in the heart of Minori and is extremely convenient to the square and the seaside. I was ther at the very end of the season and perhaps that was the reason for the inconsistencies across the group experience. My particular room while the beds were very comfortable and the bathroom was kept clean, the shower needed some work to include calming around the window and the drain cover was not attached to the floor creating a safety hazard. This was reported and not fixed during our stay. The food was very disappointing. You would think that a nice serving of pasta would always be on the menu as an alternative to the set group menu. Not the case. A nice antipasti would have also been nice. That said, the staff did their best to keep their guests feel important and cared for. A special highlight needs to go to Alesia. This young man seemed to be everywhere. He served us at breakfast, dinner and worked the front desk. Always making sure I had everything I needed to include recommending just the perfect brandy for a night cap. Overall a nice place to stay in this magical place.

“Looks the part but no atmosphere”

Nice hotel, very comfortable beds. Great location. Showers aren’t very powerful , breakfast was very basic. I asked if they did toast but was told there’s an extra charge for toast! Nice hotel, very comfortable beds. Great location. Showers aren’t very powerful , breakfast was very basic. I asked if they did toast but was told there’s an extra charge for toast! No atmosphere, lovely bar downstairs that apparently isn’t a bar as they’ve moved it to the roof top. Charged extra for having two cups of coffee but wasn’t aware until checkout. There was an additional charge but they couldn’t tell me what for so had to pay it. Dinner menu was the same every day with little choice so didn’t eat there for dinner. Kept having to go to reception for milk as the maid forgot to leave it most days.
