This is our second visit to Sorrento but the first stay in this beautiful hotel. One thing that stood out to us was how light, bright and clean all areas of this hotel are, but still keeping the Italian charm. The attention to detail in this hotel is excellent, with great decor. We had room 33, which was lovely, had a small outside terrace, bathroom with a double sink, plenty of space compared to a lot of European hotels. The views are amazing, its in a fabulous spot, quiet but not too far from Sorrento. The walk could be a little difficult due to the manic traffic and uneven paving, if you do have mobility issues, there is a local bus if that's your preference, but we walked down to Sorrento as that was our preference. The staff at the hotel are very kind and accommodating. We were celebrating a birthday and they went out of their way to make it a very special weekend. Thank you Villa Garden

“Lovely hotel, lovely sunset view, try to avoid rooms on the right hand side or at street level”

We spent 7 nights at this charming hotel in Sant Agnello as part of our 20 Wedding Anniversary trip. The hotel is beautiful from the outside and the rooms and facilities are exquisitely maintained. There is also a stunning view from the front and side rooms of either or both Vesuvius and Capri across the Bay of Naples. However, this sunset hotspot does have a downside (to be discussed later) On arrival, parking directly outside the hotel is not possible as it's entrance is on a pedestrianised walkway overlooking the sunset hotspot. The drop off is in a busy side street. There are also steps up to the hotel from the pavement. There is no porter available at the hotel. This was fine for us as we are young and fit, but could be a problem for other travellers. We were welcomed and were provided room 31 -Garden Patio room. This was at street level right next to the busy road we had just been dropped off in, albeit having a view of vesuvius, it wasn't particularly private and became apparent that it was going to be noisy. This may not have been so much of a problem had the rooms not had 'individual' heat and cooling controls. As it was, the heating/cooling system is centralised and was set to heat, so no matter what temperature you set on the dial, hot air poured out. This made sleeping very hard, given the sun was very warm and we couldn't open the windows due to the stream of people admiring the view and chatting, not to mention the motorbikes revving in the side street until all hours. To give the staff their due, when I complained about the group outside, Pepe (night manager) went out and told them to be quiet. Pepe was wonderful every night, asking how the day had been and what our plans were for the next day. He even arranged with Gabrielle for us to move rooms. This happened to be the junior suite on the other side of the hotel and on the top floor. Which was a much better room for us. I am sure that the garden room is fine for anyone who is a heavy sleeper, which I am not. Gabrielle was super helpful, providing us with very good advice about reaching certain destinations and pick up points. We loved chatting to her every morning, she even got the heating switched to cooling. Gabrielle's restaurant recommendations were also wonderful. These were local family trattoria's nearby. We never had a bad meal in any of them. Her recommendations were really useful as Sant Agnello is 25 mins walk from Sorrento, but there are plenty of bars, ameneties and restaurants within 10 mins walk if that is too far for some travellers. Nothing was too much trouble for Gabrielle. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first night I have reviewed Paravisiello separately but I would recommend it highly. Luigi has a great menu and cooks with modern yet traditional styles and passion. Tonino the manager was super helpful and careful with my allergens. Nothing was too much trouble and he was so attentive, running the restaurant like clockwork. The bar is wonderfully stocked with local wines and I tried a fair few. Mariarca was knowledgeable about the wines and was so friendly, helping me with my Italian. The pool area is serene and private a lovely tranquil place to be. Breakfast was very good, although you had to pay extra for fresh cooked eggs. Carmella even made me special gluten free pasties each morning to match those available for everyone else. Other guten free options were available. Simona and Rosella gave us a friendly welcome each morning and were super sweet. Would I return, yes, but with a top floor room away from the side road.

“Gorgeous views, incredible breakfast, far from town”

Pros-The small boutique hotel is absolutely gorgeous with gorgeous views. On the cliff with a full view of the ocean and Sorrento Port. The included breakfast was incredible and had everything you could ask for from eggs, meats, cheeses, to any pastry you could ask for. Something for everyone. … more

Pros-The small boutique hotel is absolutely gorgeous with gorgeous views. On the cliff with a full view of the ocean and Sorrento Port. The included breakfast was incredible and had everything you could ask for from eggs, meats, cheeses, to any pastry you could ask for. Something for everyone. We had the balcony room which was spacious and the bed was comfortable. The restaurant food was great. Cons-not many, just fyi for most. The hair dryer was pretty sad. We didn't encounter the best customer relations with most of the front desk staff...just mildly helpful and not overly friendly (not what we had experienced on the rest of our tour in Italy). The hotel is also quite far from town...a 30 minute walk or $25 taxi ride one way. So not possible to just run into town to shop or for a meal. Overall I would recommend this hotel, just a heads up mostly on distance to town.
