We stayed at Le Macine for two nights at the end of August this year on a last minute reservation done to escape the heat in the city. We found the price acceptable 53€ pp half board (you can also book full board for a little extra). At the moment of the reservation we were asked if we would prefer a room overlooking the pool or one with a little terrace, although these rooms are in the -2 floor (the hotel is built on a sort of hill), they are much fresher and the terrace is pleasant, overlooking an internal, calm little street; privacy from the street is guaranteed as the surrounding walls are quite high. The room in itself was nothing special, very basic but spacious and very clean. We didn't stay at the pool considering that the beach (no sandy beach on this side of the coast!) is a 3 minutes walk from the hotel, however the pool looked nice, considering that this is a 3 star hotel, it was more than expected. About the food we had mixed feelings. We noticed that the 1st course was always very good and more than enough (they normally pass by a couple of times to ask you if you want more), the second course was a bit deceiving. Dinner is at 20.00 and you have to choose what you want in the morning by filling in a form and handing it out to the reception. We were more than happy with the personnel, extremely nice and very helpful with any request. The breakfast was standard, more on the poor side though, the pastries were not that fresh, there is a limited choice of yoghurt and jams, coffee or cappuccino are served directly from the bar and brought to your table.The hotel has its own parking for around 30 cars. We had a nice stay at this hotel, we would go back if we could book room only, it is nice to go around and try out different local specialities from different places. The sea is beautiful and make it up for any not positive thing you may encounter on your way down here.

We had a wonderful experience at Le Macine. Very good food. Very friendly and helpful stuff, who made our vacation wonderful. In the area Otranto and Santa Cesarea are two great towns. I recommend it!
