A lovely hotel with comfortable, clean rooms and an amazing breakfast. You can also expect fantastic service. I recommend doing a day boat trip, which the hotel can arrange. There are a couple of beaches that belong to the hotel with lifeguards on duty as well as a swimming pool and two restaurants… more

There are a couple of beaches that belong to the hotel with lifeguards on duty as well as a swimming pool and two restaurants on site. We have really enjoyed our time there.

“Lots of room for improvement - loud music, poor restaurant, unhelpful staff”

The setting was nice as were the pool and beaches. The family suite (room 411) was also very nice and spacious however not all was positive. LOUD MUSIC: The stay would have been more relaxing if it were not for the restaurant (not part of the hotel) located by the hotel pool and beaches, which was a magnet for people (arriving by boats and yachts) who enjoyed partying during the day to VERY LOUD music. POOR RESTAURANT: We stayed for 5 days/4nights and whilst we enjoyed our stay, to a degree, we would not have wanted to stay longer as the location is isolated (especially if you do not have a car). The isolated location resulted in us twice eating at the hotel restaurant Il Mirto which was very uninspiring as the food was average, the atmosphere uninviting, and the service sub-standard. The poor atmosphere and service stemmed from the on-site manager who lacked basic customer service and was narcissistic for, amongst other points, he was the only person allowed to take orders (which caused unnecessary and prolonged delays). Failing to trust his 3 staff members to carry out core basic duties and berating them publicly would be unprofessional and unbefitting in any establishment let alone one with illusions of grandeur. We resultantly opted to eat at the snack bar (not part of, but leading to, the hotel) twice and whilst the food was merely ok (as per Il Mirto) the service far more efficient and friendly, which made the experience more enjoyable. INCOMPENTENT/UNHELPFUL STAFF: The reception staff also left much to be desired, making basic mistakes (such as making incorrect restaurant bookings) whilst failing to apologize. They were also generally unhelpful, which was evidenced on departure, as having booked a taxi (in advance) to collect us they refused to call again to re-confirm the booking, instead providing us with the number and instructing us to call if required. DO NOT USE 'GUISEPPE' TAXI SERVICE: We waited 15 minutes until after the agreed pick-up time before calling however the taxi drivers English was not the best and so we had to walk back to the hotel reception to ask them to call. They failed to apologize for not doing so originally (thus leaving us to wait with luggage in the midday sun for, at that point, 15 minutes) but duly called. The taxi service (which the hotel recommended) duly arrived 30 minutes late but the driver, Guiseppe, made no reference to or apology for this and on enquiring as to the reason for the delay Guiseppe removed our luggage from the vehicle whilst yelling “do you want a taxi or not?”. DO NOT USE Taxi La Maddalena di Guiseppe Meo for he is unreliable, rude and behaves like a petulant child. SUMMARY: In summary, Hotel Cala Lunga does not fulfil its potential and there is a lot of room for improvement.
