“Recommended”

The location is very good, close to the sea, and if you are lucky, you might get a room with sea view. The room was clean and in good condition, and the owners were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was though in the very simple end.

“OK as a B&B”

Stayed as a couple at the end of July 2016 for 2 weeks. Stayed as a couple at the end of July 2016 for 2 weeks. Rita and Donatella were around in the mornings to see breakfast running smoothly and seemed to be there if new guests were arriving, otherwise the hotel is not manned. They speak good English and were cheerful and as helpful as they could be. Parking is on the road, which can be a bit tight. Ask about parking restrictions. The photos are accurate as a general description of the hotel. The hotel was clean and well decorated throughout. The bedroom had a large double bed and an alcove with a rail, a couple of shelves and a curtain over to serve as a wardrobe. There was no other storage for clothes, no drawers or cupboards, just a couple of small shelves either side of the bed. There was also no table and the chair was of the same style as used in the breakfast room. Overall it was rather sparsely furnished . The bathroom was narrow, but everything worked. The balcony had a table and two metal chairs. It caught the afternoon sun and was unbearably hot after that - even into the late evening. Good for drying beach towels etc. The towels and bed-linen were changed as often as we required and soaps and shampoo appeared every day. The air con worked well. Breakfast was a traditional buffet. The milk was almond milk - nice for cereal. Ordinary milk is available on request. Various coffees were on offer, but don't expect tea unless your Italian is up to explaining how to make it. Lido di Avola beach is a 200m walk away. Soft sand shelving gently into the sea. It is narrow, so was a bit crowded particularly at weekends. Two sunloungers and a parasol can be hired for 15 euro a day. There are a few bars along the beach area. If these are not to your liking there is more choice at Lido do Noto but if you're going to drive you are better off going to pretty Noto. Here you have loads of choice of bars, pizzerias and restaurants. There is little for the tourist in Avola, (unless you need a supermarket) which is a working town.
