We stayed at Ferrini Home suite in Piazza trento for four nights. There are three apartments situated on the second floor of an apartment block that is situated within a oddly empty shopping mall / lobby. It is very difficult to find as there is no sign or external markings to show you where the apartments are. You will need to ring for someone to come out and give you a key. However this only took 15 minutes. Once inside the apartment (number 1) was spacious, spotless and immaculately furnished. It had a large balcony that ran from the lounge to the bedroom, very effective air con and a beautifully appointed bathroom with slippers, hair dryer and shampoo sachets There is a small, hidden kitchen area with an induction hob and fridge. It was well stocked with cooking utensils, washing liquid and even a complimentary bottle of red wine! There are TVs in the lounge and bedroom and you can find some English channels if you need to. The free WIFI worked well throughout the apartment. If anything it would have been good to have a microwave but that is the only thing this apartment lacked. It is quite a walk from the central train station (about 20 - 25 minutes) which can be a bit hard when carrying bags. All in all a stylish, spotlessly clean and beautifully furnished choice. Catania itself is a big, chaotic and grimy city that doesn't have that much to recommend it, but it is an ideal base to explore the sights of the east coast including Taormina, Castelmola, Noto and Siracuse, all of which are gorgeous and well worth exploring.

We stayed for a couple of nights and enjoyed a good sleep (Piazza Trento 2 location; make sure you get the apartment with the bedroom at the back so you don't get the noise from the street). The location is a good mix between being sufficiently close to the old city center (swarmed by tourists, approx 20 min away) and where locals spend their time. We enjoyed good restaurants and cafes the way "Catanians" do. The apartment is fully stocked (the kitchen even has olive oil and salt so we enjoyed a couple of bread-cheese-meats meals). Enjoy!

“Comfortable apartment, good location”

We stayed here for four nights and found the apartment to be very comfortable with lots of space and adequate kitchen for preparing basic meals. The location is good as its within walking distance to the market which is a must. We went every morning, Sundays its mostly closed, to buy our breakfast of delicious meats, cheeses, and the freshest best bread ever is on the corner as you enter the market. We ate at many of the restaurants, Etna Rosso Wine Bar is good, great place for people watching. Fud makes the finest burgers if you are looking for a break from Italian food. It is down a lane just off the main Via Etna street. Parking is available near the apartment with an excellent service at a well worth it E12 per day. Downside, keys to the apartment don't work for the outside gate which is closed at night and sometimes during the day, we had to climb over it three times! Not very elegant... The apartment is not serviced except they will change the towels once, but no refuse disposal unless you catch the housekeeper, no toilet paper, so bring your own. It is also extremely noisy especially on weekends, there are frequent sirens and a bar across the road that operates very late into the night. Catania as a city is filthy.
