“Superb hotel”

This hotel is in a great location right on the beach, the shuttle bus to Taormina is very efficient and we used it many times during our stay (€5pp each way is much cheaper than taxi costs). This hotel is in a great location right on the beach, the shuttle bus to Taormina is very efficient and we used it many times during our stay (€5pp each way is much cheaper than taxi costs). The staff can’t do enough to help you, the rooms are clean, spacious and air con worked perfectly. Breakfast was good - plenty of choice and didn’t ever get too busy. The complimentary drinks when they realised it was my birthday whilst staying was a very kind addition.

Just back from a weeks stay at the Albatros Beach Hotel and this was a fantastic option for a stay close to Taormina. The hotel was spotlessly clean throughout and our room was cleaned to a fantastic standard throughout. We stayed in a courtyard view room, the view was not the best, so we didn't spend a lot of time on the balcony, so I would consider upgrading next time to a sea/pool view. Food was great - breakfasts were fine, mostly continental, but you had to pay extra for omelettes/eggs etc. We stayed on a half board basis, and dinners were a la carte style, which was a great change to the usual buffet style. Dinners were very fish-heavy, something to consider if like us you don't eat fish, but we always found something to eat. The beach is €20 for two beds and an umbrella, however most other places along the promenade are €10 for two beds and an umbrella and most of these places are also just about half the price for drinks etc too. The beach bar is lovely, but was very quiet when we were there, probably because it was the start of the season - other places were busy, so the prices might have something to do with this too. The hotel runs a shuttle service to/from Taormina for €10 return per person, which was fantastic - you just book your place at reception, advised to do this early as this fills up fast. Just about everything is charged to your room when paying for drinks etc, but you can just pay these as and when if you like - we done this to keep on top of things to avoid a large charge when checking out. Overall, a fantastic stay and a fantastic hotel. Would definitely recommend and consider returning if back in the area!

“Great location on the beach and spotlessly clean”

We had a week in the lovely town of Letojanni. It’s just 15 minutes to Taormina by the hotel bus but without the frenetic nature of this place. The hotel is right on the beach and our deal included Sunbeds for the week. The beach is pebbly so bring jellies or beach shoes and the water crystal clear. The main pool is very small and the seats around it are bean bags and not for sitting in for long. The main hotel is spotless with staff cleaning around the clock. Our room overlooked the pool and was fine for the week. A good sized comfy bed and a decent sized shower. Balconies were small and overlooked. Some of the rooms in the middle of the hotel have no view at all so worth checking which room you are in. Staff were unfailingly helpful. What lost it a star was the breakfast. No fresh fruit unless you peeled it yourself and virtually the same offer every day for the week. Some fresh fruit salad would have been nice. They do have a gluten free section of breads, croissants and cakes which was good to see. If you want your own eggs or omelettes there is an additional charge. Letojanni is a lovely town with a range of restaurants on the front a beautiful square full of eateries and bars and several supermarkets on the road behind the sea front. Cafe Il Gabbiano is a few metres away serving fab patisseries, ice cream, coffee wine and spritz is well worth visiting.

So before I go on I would just like explain that I’m not tight and I don’t mind paying for stuff - but we did come away from this holiday feeling a tad ripped off. The hotel is really nice, smartly set out, and the staff are all credit to the hotel they really couldn’t do enough for you. The room was spacious well maintained and comfy, and kept immaculately clean with great air con (an absolute must with temperatures in the low 30’s). The resort itself is a bit hit and miss with some of the old world Italian/Sicilian charm - but restaurant choices weren’t great (this is Sicily) most where on the side of the beach and looked like beach shacks. One definitely worth trying is pasta amore e fantasia, just down from the hotel, great pasta and friendly service first class and at a reasonable price. Otherwise if you want a good meal I’d head to Taormina. For drinks and fab ice cream try sea blue bar in the town square. The breakfast in the hotel was ok but not four star. You had to pay for eggs and omelettes (some hotels do charge for these in Sicily- but not all) when you got the omelet it wasn’t worth 6 euro’s. There is the sun-loungers on the beach 25 euro for the front two rows and 20 euro’s for the rest. We knew there was a charge having read the reviews in trip adviser but they increased a by 5-10 euros since then. The other beach restaurants charge anything between 10-15 euros from what we could see. Also be aware the beach sellers they are a real pain the arse coming by your beds and waking you up to sell their crap. Lunch in the beach bar was ok the service was good. The hotel runs a shuttle service this is the only thing that was a rip off 5 euros there and back - cheaper than a taxi which is around 30 euros. There is a train station in the resort but we didn’t use as we spend our life commuting. Over holiday was nice and relaxing but we unlikely to return. Sicily is beautiful island with in our view much better resorts to stay in. PS we travelled on a package holiday through easy jet and this was the time we had ever used them and they were much better than expected and we would travel with them again.
