Lovely hotel in a strategic location, on the beach and five minutes walk from Vulcano’s restaurants, lively bars and shopping area. Rooms are very nicely designed and recently renovated. The bedroom is separate from the living room (both rooms have doors) with the bathroom in the middle. Quiet decent size pool at perfect temperature! Private beach on the calm sabbie nere bay. Mario the lifeguard on the beach is a superstar and very knowledgable on the best places where to eat on the island. Aperitif on the terrace has breathtaking views but do book well in advance, even before you get there, to secure your table. If you have the chance, visit the nearby islands by boat. Overall we had a lovely stay. Friendly staff, attentive hotel manager.

“The best!”

I stayed here for 2 weeks last year, and (pre covid) for week; but I had not left a review for either visit. I stayed here for 2 weeks last year, and (pre covid) for week; but I had not left a review for either visit. I am writing one now, because I disagree profoundly with one or two of the (minority!) ‘less than perfect’ reviews i have just read. Our stays were about as perfect as a holiday can be. We loved Les Sables Noirs, and will definitely return for a third visit.

“Enormous rooms”

The rooms are scattered in separate little bungalows around the site, and on first inspection I was absolutely thrilled with my room. After 10 days of tiny little rooms and no outside space on a tour of Sicily, here I was presented with a cross between a suite and a self catering apartment. It was absolutely enormous, with a small kitchenette with big fridge and even a freezer; cooking facilities; a table and chairs; a sofa; a really big bed; another small sitting area; a big shower room; a big private terrace (you could seat at least 8 people I should think); and a small non-private sitting area outside the front door with table and chairs. On closer inspection, the sofa was stained, and the shower, although clean, had an awkwardly placed shower head which made it difficult to use. The private terrace was not practical to use because of the sulphur smell, and it looked on to the back of some other, less well kept, apartments; but the front area was lovely and I did make use of this. Everything apart from the sofa was perfectly clean. The pool was a bit small. I only used it first thing in the morning when I was the only person in it, and that was lovely but it would be crowded with multiple swimmers.

Very nice hotel on the interesting island of Vulcano. Rooms spacious and comfortable more like an apartment than a hotel room. There was a large fridge freezer, cooker, microwave loads of cupboards but no kettle or hospitality tray...very strange. We even asked for a kettle at reception with no luc… more

Very nice hotel on the interesting island of Vulcano. Rooms spacious and comfortable more like an apartment than a hotel room. There was a large fridge freezer, cooker, microwave loads of cupboards but no kettle or hospitality tray...very strange. We even asked for a kettle at reception with no luck. The view from the bar overlooking the black beach is stunning, although the weather was poor for the two nights we stayed so couldn't really enjoy. The bar also plays deafening music most of the day...not nice. Breakfast OK usual fare. No restaurant, we had to walk into the village for our included meal. I give 4 stars only because the room was clean and spacious and the view outstanding.
