Hotel San Michele

We stayed here three nights the first week of December 2025, which is deep off-season. Hotel San Michele is a cut above our usual stay, we hoped for something of a treat for ourselves and we were not disappointed. The location was close to perfect, the hotel overall and its rooms are quite new, modern, well-designed, clean and stylish. Staff was helpful, polite, responsive. (When they learned we were taking an early bus they offered to make us coffee before they would have opened for breakfast.) Our room was quiet, the breakfast very good in the Italian style. Our room was ample in size, located on the end of a short outdoor walkway so the only view was inward. I suspect other rooms have more light and something of a street view. Just a warning, though: in deep off-season, the tuna fishing museum and most restaurants and stores on the island of Favignana and in Erice were closed, as were some well-reviewed restaurants in Trapani. Top if off, the cable car that takes people up to Erice was closed for repairs until the day after we left. Then, too, the day we took the bus to Erice it rained fiercely. But we had a good time anyway, our first time in this end of Sicily, and one reason was the warmth and pleasantness of Hotel San Michele. A single flaw, which shows how little there was to complain about, were the thin plastic cups provided in the rooms, so fragile that one cracked as we removed the plastic film in which it was wrapped. When I went for a replacement, the staff immediately offered two real glasses. It seems incongruous that a hotel of this quality uses plastic cups over glass or ceramic in its guest rooms; a mystery of life or hotel economics.

“Very nice small hotel in Trapani”

Two nights at Hotel San Michele while driving around Sicily. Excellent location in the old town for walking; friendly and professional staff; lots of choices at breakfast buffet (although as we've discovered at other hotels in Italy, coffee tasted a bit like instant). Two nights at Hotel San Michele while driving around Sicily. Excellent location in the old town for walking; friendly and professional staff; lots of choices at breakfast buffet (although as we've discovered at other hotels in Italy, coffee tasted a bit like instant). Our room on the second floor was quiet and immaculate but very tight (only type available -- just a bed and not even a chair). See "tips" regarding parking -- if you're driving, I would definitely recommend the valet parking option. Would definitely stay here again.

We loved this hotel! It was exceptionally clean, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. We loved this hotel! It was exceptionally clean, the breakfast was excellent and the staff were very friendly. The room was spacious, the bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet despite being in the centre of town. We would’ve given five stars but for the poorly draining shower which tended to flood the bathroom and the lack of hot water on one of the days (fixed after we called reception).

Our stay at Hotel San Michele was a mix of positives and frustrations. The location is excellent, the breakfast was very good, and the front desk staff were helpful and welcoming. Valet parking was also convenient. Unfortunately, the negatives stood out – the Wi-Fi was absolutely terrible, the room set up, felt very basic, not even a bottle of water was provided, and plastic cups weren’t replaced after the originals were used. With a few improvements in guest comfort, this hotel could match its great location and service.
