This hotel is in a great location at the end of the main street, overlooking Marina Grande, so it has lovely views from the upper floors and isn't hard to walk to from the train station. We were on the 2nd floor and the view was OK, but would have preferred to be on the 3rd floor. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was fine, some strange items (chocolate cake, carrot cake, c9ffee mousse!) but the croissants were great. There was fresh melon with tubs of yogurt, ham & cheese and other cakes. You can order omelettes and some other cooked eggs but have to pay extra for these (3EU) you will also be offered one coffee and will have to pay extra if you want more. Strange as you can eat as much as you like from the buffet. When we had an early morning trip to get to they were happy for us to take a few items away with us which we really appreciated. There is a bar here which has a very limited menu but still good for a nightcap. There are a few seats outside the bar, on the terrace by the small pool, and on floor 3. The pool is very small but wasn't busy when we went so was fine, and there's a terrace area with sunbeds and parasols with a nice view. As others have said, the soundproofing in the rooms is non-existent. We could hear the 2 ladies talking loudly in the room next door (and singing in the shower) as though they were in our room! Luckily I take ear plugs with me so I wasn't woken up, but my husband was frequently woken by people banging doors & dragging chairs over the tiles. Might be a good idea for the hotel to put up signs to remind certain guests to be respectful of others. The hotel is very clean, room size is fine, bathroom (shower only) was large and shower was great although the shower tray filled up and overflowed if I washed my hair and was in there for more than 3 minutes! We did report this but it still happened every day. Bed was comfy. Not enough hangers but we always take our own folding travel hangers with us.

“Better than most 4 star hotels in Sorrento”

We recently stayed at Hotel Rivage after needing to find an alternative hotel at short notice. Long story short we booked a 4 star hotel that was more like a 2 star! My advice…..don’t look at the stars of a hotel! Our 4 star was grubby, rough around the edges and we couldn’t stand there a minute longer. Hotel rivage was the complete opposite! Spotlessly clean, modern, beautiful views and the best friendly staff. The food is great overlooking the bay of Naples. The pool and rooftop terrace is very nice to relax in (it’s next to a busy road though so be prepared for some traffic noise) We are so glad we found this hotel after our 4 star disaster! Don’t be put off by the 3 star tag…..it’s much nicer than majority of the 4 stars we seen in Sorrento

“Excellent Location”

Stayed here for 8 nights... Excellent location minutes walk from restaurants and shops. Beautiful views from our bedroom and breakfast room. Friendly and such helpful staff throughout our stay. Bedroom on the 2nd floor was so spacious and clean. Two complaints.... One was there was a constant sewer… more

Bedroom on the 2nd floor was so spacious and clean. Two complaints.... One was there was a constant sewerage smell, mostly coming from the sink and two from early morning it was very noisy, as if people moving furniture above us, cant imagine it was cleaners from 6am? Pool area was so nice and quiet, lovely to chill and relax. Overall we would definitely recommend here and staff couldn't do enough...

The location is decent, the staff is attentive and the restaurant is clean. The views from the restaurant are nice. The prices are reasonable. However, there’s room for improvement, especially in the breakfast section. The fruit selection is limited, and the juices are not natural. There should be more cheese and ham varieties, and the coffee preparation needs to be improved.

It was actually quite a pleasurable stay, just a few things that left a bad taste in our mouths! It’s quite a decent location as only a couple minutes walk along flat road to the centre, just beware if you are walking up from the ferry port with luggage, it’s hell on earth (literally). Staff were very friendly on arrival with surprisingly no city tax charge. Room was basic enough but very nice and clean! Amazing air con which was very much so appreciated. Nice bathroom, comfy bed, fridge, safe, and a decent balcony. The pool area was quite nice, more so for couples as was quite small but great view to make up for it. The breakfast was so beyond disappointing it makes me want to laugh. Very low quality, shocking variety, and if you want eggs you have to pay €3… not a lot of course but doesn’t scream “breakfast included”. We tried morning 1 and never again, go across the road to the grocery shop and get your breakfast there instead. The biggest issue of our whole stay was at check out. The day prior we had noticed one of the lamps had a chip taken out of body, visible damage but nothing major and assumed it was always there so said nothing (our mistake). Upon check out they presented us with a €50 bill to replace the lamp as the cleaner noted it to staff when cleaning our room. Neither me or my girlfriend even touched that lamp once. Anyways I refused to pay and after some time they agreed to waive it, to be fair the staff member dealing with us was quite nice about it. It just felt like we were getting scammed out of it just as we were walking out and left a bad taste in our mouth. I’d recommend staying here if you have no interest in hotel breakfasts and beware of any damaged property in your room and be sure to inform staff immediately to avoid our situation! Besides breakfast and check out it was a very pleasant experience!
