Just coming to an end of two fabulous weeks here. The hotel staff at this hotel are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. Any minor issues were dealt with quickly with a follow up call later to check all was goo. The hotel itself is sandwiched between two other Riu hotels, both of which are more lively than the Palace. The Palace is more relaxed but you have the option to visit either hotel but they can’t visit the Palace. The beach is kept spotless all the time. The rooms are spacious with a jacuzzi bath in the middle. The room is made up to a high standard daily. The mini bar is filled up daily with water, beer & fizzy drinks. The hotel is extremely clean in all areas. The food is in my opinion excellent with a large variety in the buffet. The food in the speciality restaurants again is excellent. You do have to book them but we had no problem. At lunch time & early evening you get a large amount of aircraft taking off directly over the hotel which you’ll either love or hate. To be honest it’s no problem at all. There are no flights at night. This hotel is closing I believe in August for a full refurbishment, so when it reopens it will be even better…if that’s possible. Only negative I could find if any was the Wi-Fi was very hit & miss but that’s all.

After returning to the hotel with my daughter I was hoping the experience would be as good as our first visit and it didn’t disappoint in fact it was more enjoyable , every member of staff are credit to the hotel from the cleaners who work constantly (anyone saying the hotel is dirty are lying) to the beach cleaners and gardeners , but a special mention must go to certain people who really made our holiday great with their great friendly and attentive service Audley ,causten and donisha (excuse the spellings ) were fantastic ! And also the entertainment team with a big shout out to genius who made an effort to come and find us on our departure !The good everyday was great and the drinks in all the bars quality , yes there are parts of the hotel that need updating which is happening this year but these a very small points that don’t affect anyone’s stay ! Hopefully will return asap !!!!

Completely honest review based on my genuine opinion June 2026 RESORT: The RIU Palace is pretty and nice and the room was great, but not top tier for luxury. Staff mentioned an upcoming closure in the next few months for renovations and upgrades so that should be nice. Out of the 3 sister resorts, Montego seemed more fancier visually than Palace, the pools were nicer and the beach was bigger. Pools close at 6pm which is ridiculous in my opinion and they need something more modern to identify guests than bracelets. The beaches were so so, I was bummed and disappointed, not a big beach at all, no soft sand or beautiful waters. (You will def need to travel to Seven Mile in Negril to see a beach with turquoise waters and soft sand) Most nights, we heard loud banging/yelling and rolling cart sounds so don't expect a restful nights sleep...Parties almost every night with reggae, steel drums or other Caribe music, that was very cool and one of the highlights. "Security" was annoying with how they addressed "specific people" vaping or smoking. Vendors on their canoes by the beach sold crafts and joints to tourist on the beach, they were chill. ROOM: Our room had the ocean view and it was very pretty, very clean and big enough for us 3 girls. Balcony was great with beautiful views. The bathroom area had little privacy and was better suited for a couple. FOOD/DRINKS: The app never worked so reservations had to be made at the reception area. We did not have much luck eating at all the restaurant's but had Italian once and the food was very good! The breakfast buffet was the best and the lunch was good too, but after a few days you want to change it up so def try to make reservations early. Small pool with a swim up bar and many areas to drink..they were wayy to strong for me but its pretty much drinks all day and night. STAFF: Orlando at the reception was awesome and helped upgraded our room, he was always sweet and helpful!!! Lewis was also helpful along with all the other front staff. The wait staff, Jemar the best singer in the world and his gf Christine are super sweet. Generally all staff were helpful and nice. This is what makes the hotel so great, the staff! SAFETY: There are BIG concerns here. There is no ATM at the resort, and the transport srvc in front of the resort will actually send you to the ATM OUTSIDE of the resort, NOT SAFE!! Staff will also send you to the resort next door but its a MONEY EXCHANGE not an ATM There's a ton of solicitor's outside wanting money or trying to sell you pot or other items. Just like in any other country this is the norm..but if you ignore them, some will act threatening & if you tell them no thank you, they will pretend they've talked to you before and repeatedly ask for you to go talk to them, usually to sell you weed or to get money out of you. The store across the street will scam you for sure if your a tourist. I got charged two different prices on different days for the same item! If you walk back and forth to the resorts, you get cat called through the wall cracks by a variety of different guys. It does not give a very safe vibe for a resort, especially at night. EXCURSIONS: We got the package to Chukka for horseback riding, catamaran and snorkeling from the lady at a desk near the reception area. That was the highlight of the trip along with 7 Mile Beach and Ricks cafe! Don't be fooled by the "USD Points" for photos, massage etc. email you get when booking a room. It's spread out so you have to pay quite a bit for these services. You end up not knowing this till you ask in person, kind of scamish. SUGGESTIONS: Have a shuttle or golf cart to transport guest from one resort to another. Although the resorts are close by, there is not any security or secure walls to prevent outsider from harassing you, thats annoying when your on vacation. Have an ATM in EACH resort. An agenda or itinerary of events posted in several areas that include which resort you can eat at and when, party info, etc. that would be helpful. Fans in the bathrooms. WISH I HAD KNOWN FIRST: This is just in general when vacationing in Jamaica. The only beach I saw with turquoise waters and soft sands was Seven Mile in Negril. Getting the C5 does not ensure a smooth transition in customs. The biggest nightmare and disrespect for me was at customs, horrible experience and most staff (mostly the women) there are straight A-Holes. No signs for any line your on and you can def feel tensions between airport staff and tourists. Jamaica has a lot of beauty but it is very poor and most people have to hustle to survive. I gave the RIU a 3 on this review mostly because of the safety issue. I would have gave a 4 if the safety issue did not exists. The room was extremely nice and the staff was the best. Overall, for my first and only trip to Jamaica, I had a ton of fun, met great people and saw beautiful scenes!
