Located about 30 minutes from the airport, this excellent hotel is located right on top of the beach. There is a large main pool and a smaller pool to the side, where the poolside bar and swim up bar are located and fun pool games are played by the younger generation from around midday. This can obviously get noisy, but if you prefer a quieter sunbathe, then the beach is literally at the bottom of about 12 steps and the main pool area has some beds, although these are taken up pretty quickly. The hotel itself is spotlessly clean, maintained by the excellent staff who work tirelessly and with a constant smile on their face. The reception desk is well staffed with at least 4 people on duty at all times. We asked for their assistance only once when our fridge was making a noise and the matter was dealt with within the hour. There is a main bar within the hotel which can get noisy, due to the very high ceiling. Staff are constantly on call to get you drinks and once again are incredibly friendly. Special shout out to Diana who was always super speedy and had an excellent sense of humour. The bedrooms are a fabulous size. A huge king size bedroom and special TV area next to the veranda were what we had in room 232. These rooms really do put the IKOS accommodation in Europe to shame. The special restaurants were a little hit and miss, we were disappointed with the Mexican (strange that Mexican people couldn’t do justice to their own food) and the Italian, but the Japanese and gourmet restaurants were very good. The main buffet restaurant was outstanding for breakfast and also provided a fabulous selection of foods for both lunch and dinner. Again, the food was far superior to the IKOS hotel offerings. We would definitely return.

First all inclusive for us, we are normally a cruise couple. This was a great first trip, the food was great, breakfast buffet had so many options, seems simple but the scrambled eggs were fantastic along with everything else. Dinner choices were endless and the restraunts were fantastic. I will say that the steak I had at the Japanese restaurant was just as good as the steak house that you have to wait in line for, beef teppanyaki was amazing. The lobster risotto at that restaurant was most likely the best dish of the trip, besides the street tacos from a street vendor. Never had to run down early and save a spot, always had premiere seating wherever we wanted at anytime.

“TERRIBLE DIRTY OLD BED!!!”

We stayed at this hotel/resort for the first time from April 21-May 2nd of 2026. We are disappointed because they bed was EXTREMELY dirty, old and uncomfortable and no way to the standards of a 5 starts resort” We spent the first 2-3 hours of our stay dealing with maintenance issues in our room.… more

We stayed at this hotel/resort for the first time from April 21-May 2nd of 2026. We are disappointed because they bed was EXTREMELY dirty, old and uncomfortable and no way to the standards of a 5 starts resort” We spent the first 2-3 hours of our stay dealing with maintenance issues in our room.. things like severe humidity inside the room despite the fact that we had not at all open the sliding door.. We called the front desk and asked for a humidifier and we were told they don’t provide those” We had issues with the shower door and an ac leak right in front of the closet that almost caused an accident. They send the maintenance crew. We mentioned the issue with the humidity which they agreed it was bad. They brought a humidifier and we were told they could not understand why the front desk said they don’t have one” We also had issues with the safety box, the mini fridge, etc… this place is just old and needs to be upgraded soon. It is not worth what they charge. The front desk personnel lacks a lot of friendliness, empathy, basic customer service skills. The ladies at the capuchino bar” wow they look like they hate their job! No smiles, no basic manners such as thank you or you’re welcome nothing. I reported it to the front desk but he seemed annoyed by my feedback… The food is decent at the buffet but the specialty restaurants” oh my God food was so bad! Bland, meat was extremely tough, fish so overcooked. The service was great though. The beach is very very small. The pools are great and we hope they do not change the lay out as they’ve been doing it with other Riu’s. They also have some issues with security on the beach. I had my shoes and a hat stolen.
