We arrived the day after our actual check in date so we wouldn't have to wait until check in time at 3pm after a red eye flight from Vancouver, Canada. The front desk amigo at check-in tried to tell us we needed to wait to go to our room when we actually didn't because of the prior day reservation. It took a bit, but we got it sorted, Most of the staff was very helpful and friendly . When I booked it, I thought it was supposed to be a hotel, but it turned out to be more like a condo. Drinking Water is NOT included, which we did not know and after asking for water a few times (because I saw others ask) we were told to get our own which was easy enough to lug a jug from 7/11 around the corner. Thankfully, a guest staying there helped me with water and directions to the grocery store. Thanks Sam. But there is No way an older person would be able to lug Or lift the big jugs all the way there. They need to put the water situation right at the rental and check in stage An explanation right at the beginning would have been nice. It seems this hotel/ condo is in transition, they are selling off the suites I was told the owner doesn't want to run it as room rental anymore and likes building new construction. The limestone building and layout was very nice and in pretty good shape. Loved the view and swimming in the pool but the pool tiles need to be reattached and the pool sides cleaned more often. People were getting stuck from a sticky door in one of the pool bathrooms and the light went out in another one as well....so a few ongoing maintenance issues, the manager had his hands full. We had clogged drainage in our kitchen sink a couple of times, I used vinegar to clear it, the hot water was hot which was nice at the end of a salty day. While there, there was some digging around pipes outside, hopefully, they got whatever they were working on solved . The elevator was also having issues but there are two and stairs as well, so not much inconvenience. Except when the power was out and all the staff was all sitting around, but no one mentioned anything about a power outage, I found out from my mom when I went back to our room . The power was down for all of the Yucatan for half a night from 4-6 then about 8 until 2:15 am which was a bit uncomfortable, but we opened windows and the air was manageable . But, many places in pdc needed to have some back up power, solar, wind, or something? The condo had a kitchenette ( sort of useable) big fridge and the beds were very good, sofa was comfortable ...the room we were in was with our a balcony, it looks like there was supposed to be one, because there is a support wall but they forgot to finish it, maybe had trouble finding the right kind of doors? The cleaning staff were great ! Note : There was No safe in our room which was 310 and the tv was locked in spanish without a way to change it.... I guess it's a good way to learn the language but my mom would have liked to watch a few things. At least there was music, the outdoors channel and a news station. For the most part we enjoyed our stay, close to public beach access and Quinta Avenida ( 5th St) A bit loud and raucous at times during the weekends and holidays...but for the most part manageable.
