We have returned from Grand Sirenis back to the UK this morning and now have a serious case of the holiday blues... Our 2 weeks at the resort was absolutely fabulous! From start to finish, it was amazing. We have had the most relaxing stay. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted in the lobby with a welcome drink, checked in and were taken to our room. We stayed in the Chac block (room 1240), the room was beautiful, clean, tidy and so big! We would like to give a special mention to our fantastic concierge team.... Roberto, Julio, Nairobi, Silvana and Jorge. They couldn't do enough for us, anything we needed help with, they sorted it with no hesitation. We were always greeted with big smiles, asked if the room was OK, asked how our day had been or what we were planning to do for the day. Also, I have mobility issues and often needed to use a buggy to get around the resort but they sorted this, often without me even having to ask. If I could give them all 10 stars each, I would! They are a credit to Grand Sirenis Riviera Maya. The food and cocktails were exceptional. Our favourite places were Sweet and Salt (the chocolate martinis are beautiful), Breathe Bar has a nice chilled vibe and the breeze of an evening is very welcomed. We also enjoyed the cocktails at Mixologia, Carlos is you go to person! He certainly knows what he is doing! We had beautiful meals at the a la carte restaurants; the tepenyaki show was great fun, we loved Carnal and Butchers. I would definitely recommend the corn soup at the Butchers. We ate at Verbena a few times, again, food was great, lots of choice and we particularly loved our waiter, Ramon. He is a true gentleman and so attentive. Again, if I could give him 10 stars, I would! Breakfast at The Park was also lovely, plenty of choice. One thing for certain is there is something for everyone, there is no way you would go hungry. We loved the Aura pool, there were activities taking place, music playing and we loved it when the World Cup kicked off and the entertainments team put on a show pool side. It was a great party atmosphere. We also really enjoyed the foam parties; whilst this may not be everyone's idea of fun, we loved it. The wildlife...one minute you're relaxing on a sunbed and the next, you have an iguana chilling out next to you. We were lucky enough to see the monkeys too! The racoons are so cute. The resort is so clean, staff work non-stop ensuring it's kept to a high standard at all times. The only thing which we felt was disappointing, but absolutely no fault of anyone, it was the amount of sargassum on the beach and the smell was at times very strong. Staff do their very best to clear it but I think they are fighting a losing battle....but that's Mother Nature for you! Overall, we have had the best experience at Grand Sirenis. It's been wonderful and we were so sad to leave. We will definitely be back to do it all again!!

The show cooking experience was so entertaining and the food was amazing. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. They ensured that I had plenty of options as a vegetarian with Miso soup, seaweed and cucumber salad vegi sushi and egg fried rice with vegetables and tofu. Our chef Reynaldo was so entertaining and nice. He put on a great show and made sure everyone was happy. I would definitely recommend this venue and experience.

“Great hotel, couple of potential points of note”

We’ve just finished a 2 week stay at Grand Sirenis as a family of four. The hotel is very clean, tidy, nicely decorated and furnished. Staff are friendly and welcoming throughout the hotel, all like to have a joke too which is well received. The grounds, facilities and wildlife you see around the hotel is fantastic, something completely out of the ordinary. Kids club was excellent and the staff in there were brilliant. Our 2 kids loved going. Breakfast and lunch buffets have a great selection and the staff in all restaurants are great. A down point for the Dinner buffet is that it’s repetitive with no theme nights or different options per night. This is slightly frustrating due to the difficulty of booking an à la carte restaurant. I managed to book one via the app not sure how as no one else we’ve spoken to had managed it. one restaurant with the concierge and one we walked into to try our luck for any cancellations. I’m also not sure who the target audience is for this hotel as there’s such a range of visitors - from couples wanting to party and drink a lot to families. This is no bad thing for some, but from our experience the drunken shouting come 5pm can be annoying and inappropriate for smaller children, no fault of the hotels of course more of an observation. There is a quieter pool in the middle of the resort, however, the only bar adjacent to it serves smoothies, doesn’t have any activities which the kids like to join in on, etc. The beach is a superb beach, but, the seaweed means there’s a smell Across the majority of it and you cannot go In the sea, again, no fault of the hotels, as it’s one of those things. We managed to find a spot where it didn’t smell and was very peaceful. Overall a good stay and we enjoyed it!
