Very nice hotel, clean and friendly staff. We went out most mornings till early afternoon and still there were sunbeds left by the pool. Great location 5 mins away from old town, marina and plenty of beaches nearby. We only stayed bed and breakfast so can’t comment much on the food apart from there was a good selection at breakfast and the snack bar by the pool was really good portion sizes for the money. Download uber app before you come. It is much easier (and cheaper) than getting taxis. Great family friendly hotel would recommend to anybody and would definitely stay here again. The only thing I would complain about is the confusion over the free shuttle bus service. The first day we were there we went to reception and asked for the free shuttle bus to old town they said you have to book it a day in advance. No problem it was our first day so we got a taxi to old town instead. Tuesday we went back to reception to book the shuttle bus to the beach for Wednesday. Was told no we have to book on the same day (even though the day before we were told you have to book in advance) the man said go and have breakfast tomorrow and then come back and you can book it. Wednesday morning comes we went to breakfast went back to reception to book the shuttle bus and were told it’s already gone the next one isn’t until 4pm. So we had to pay for an uber. I think you need to make it clearer to guests when they book in how to use it rather than have 3 different reception staff tell you 3 different things. Apart from this, they were very friendly and always greeted with a smile when exchanging pool towels or even walking past when entering and leaving the hotel.

Just back from a week’s stay at Hotel Baia Grande, and it was fantastic! Superb hotel, great location away from all the hustle and bustle of the Albufeira towns. Nice 15 mins walk to Praia da Coelha beach and Uber rides to the Marina, Old Town and Strip were around £4 to £9 max, great value! Hotel was immaculate, the grounds are really well kept and literally everyday the hotel gardeners are working and pruning the lovely plants and tree’s. The pool area is stunning, loads of beds, hammocks and swing seats, always space available and none of that horrid towel dash morning reserving antics you see elsewhere. Pool is clean, large and just amazing for everyone to enjoy, there is a small child friendly pool and a raised chill-out spa type pool also. The pool side snack bar is absolutely amazing for food, the menu is great and the quality and quantity of food is really impressive. Drinks slightly expensive €3.50 for a coke and for a small water, €4.50 for a large Super Bock larger, I suppose that’s not too bad for a pint but in the Marina and Towns you can get a pint for €2 or €2.50 at certain times. The staff were absolutely first class, engaging, friendly and helpful, the owners of the hotel were also really hands on and clearly setting really high standards, which is nice to see. The breakfast was amazing, we only had breakfast included and every morning really looked forward to the wide range of food and drinks available, cooked breakfasts, breads, cheeses, amazing fruits the list goes on! Highlight is the omelette bar. Highlight to not miss is the Thursday night BBQ evening around the pool, wonderful food and really well done, lots of traditional music and dancing too. Room was spotless with a smallish but functional balcony overlooking the pool and gardens, which I recommend booking as the opposite side of the hotels views are just not as good. There is an indoor pool and spa which we used once, need to wear a swimming cap in that pool, great saunas and multiple jets in the pool. Not so good bits: The family room we had was more like a double with a very small old camp type bed pushed literally against the bottom of the double bed, we have a 12yo and probably wasn’t ideal for him or us. But the room is just a base for us and it wasn’t going to have much impact, bathroom was very nice. The pool bar closed at 6pm, this felt early and basically meant anymore drinks were from the indoor piano bar, I want to be outside on holiday and the pool and gardens are so nice, it’s a shame you can’t chill out with a few drinks in the evening. Also, the entertainment in the piano bar is really for the elderly, singers and electronic organ type performers doing the old classics, some will love it but it felt more like an Eastbourne Saga experience. The little shop onsite is really basic and expensive, I would do a trip to the Spar stores in the towns and marina to load up on water etc. I should say, it was my son’s birthday while we were away and the hotel gave him a cake which was delicious and a hand written note, wishing him a happy birthday! Really classy and much appreciated! I would absolutely recommend this hotel, great atmosphere and a really nice mix of guests made it a holiday to remember! Thank you! Baia Grande

Visited with family and friends. Nice hotel but in need of some TLC in areas at the moment I’d say it’s more of a 3 than 4 star. Reception staff were friendly on check in. Visited with family and friends. Nice hotel but in need of some TLC in areas at the moment I’d say it’s more of a 3 than 4 star. Reception staff were friendly on check in. Bar staff in lounge nice but very slow. Pool bar staff ok. There is a table tennis table by the pool but doesn’t seem to be any bat or balls we were sent in circles as to where we would find them in the end gave up. Pool food good. Breakfast good with plenty of choice. Pool area needs TLC very tired looking, sun beds seen better days. Rooms nice enough, bathrooms great. Internal corridor walls and carpet need attention. Location bit out f way but both Uber and bolt easy to get and cheap so not a problem. No sun bed wars in this hotel which was a bonus.

Well the Hotel is very nice, clean, pool area is lovely and pool bar no problems at all. Loads of sunbeds always available. Reception ladies very helpful. However, that's the good points. Bad points are - main bar service very slow. We waited half an hour for a cocktail and had asked twice. The barman continued to chat and serve other guests. It seems if you are in a large party spending a lot of money you get priority. We walked out the bar and told him why. They are very strict on you don't get your room until 3pm, no problem we had a snack and drink at the pool bar and waited patiently. Got our room no balcony, when we had on our booking there was a balcony. We complained and the reception girls called the Duty Manager, he came down completely ignored us and talked to the girls in Portuguese and left them to sort it out. We waited and were told to pack our stuff up vacate the room and wait for another. So waiting for a room again. Holiday ticking by. When one became vacant and clean we were given the key. We went to the room it smelt fusty and had the smallest balcony we had ever seen with two chairs and a big air con unit but at least it was somewhere to hang wet swimming costumes. We unpacked and by this time it was time to shower and find somewhere to eat. Next morning we moved the bedroom chairs to see wet walls and wallpaper peeling showing black mould behind. We took pictures. Off to Reception to complain again. They said they'd inspect the room. They rang us and told us to pack up our stuff AGAIN and move out. Had to wait around again with our suitcases for a room to become available and clean. No apology from a Manager, reception girls apologised. Hung around to see the Rep - all in all losing a whole day's holiday. Will be complaining to Jet2. On a location note, the Hotel is not near the beach. There is a small cove with lots of steps going down to it with one beach bar. You walk down a narrow rough dirt track -- not a nice walk to get to it and then it's crowded. There's free buses from the Hotel to a better beach but you have to be there all day or get a taxi back. Also free bus twice there and twice back to the Old Town as it's not walkable. There is nothing around the Hotel. Two or three restaurants a fair walk away including a Sports Bar. We struggled to find somewhere different every night to eat as we were B&B and no free bus into town, so taxis every night. I would recommend though the Luso Gusto Restaurant above the Bar Cafe next to mini market - about a 20 minute walk along a no pavement road then a poor pavement road. The Restaurant is easily missed but worth a visit. I think Jet2 need to be a bit more honest about the location. There is absolutely nothing next to or around the Hotel. If you want peace and quiet and keep using taxis (there are no buses) this is the place. If you want somewhere to be able to go out from on a nice walk to find somewhere to eat go somewhere else. For kids there is one very small round kids pool and one old unused creaky roundabout, that's it. Entertainment is a singer in the Lounge Bar next to the TV some nights and a Thursday BBQ.
