Amazing stay from start to finish We had an amazing stay at this hotel. Everything was spotlessly clean, and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The barman especially stood out — he loved a little tip and called it “jingle bells”, which added a fun personal touch. The pool area was always clean and became our favourite place to relax after busy days exploring or spending time at the beach. The food and drink selection was excellent, with plenty of choice for all tastes. One of the best things about this hotel is its perfect location between the Old Town and the Marina, making it easy to enjoy both sides of the area. Highly recommended.

We booked a two week package at the Hotel Do Cerro with Jet2 Holidays. We’ve been to Albufeira several times and always stay in the old town, so this hotel, which is a few minutes walk uphill, was ideal. From the genuine warm welcome that we received on arrival from Claudia on Reception, we felt very much at home for the duration of our stay and found all the staff so helpful and friendly. The hotel consists of two connected buildings so at first it can seem like a bit of a maze navigating around but you soon get familiar with everything. The whole property is well maintained and clean with some nice features such as antique furniture and old pictures of Albufeira in the public areas. The rooms are a little dated but are more than adequate and are a good size. Having a small fridge was really useful. The breakfast service is interesting as it’s not the buffet style that we have all become accustomed to. Instead, you order from a list each day and your breakfast is brought to you by the waiting staff. You never have to wait long and you can request additional items such as more drinks whenever you want them, so you don’t have to over order. Every day there were scrambled or boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, as well as salad and cereal items. It can become a bit repetitive if you’re staying for more than a few days but there is something to suit everyone so you won’t go hungry. A basket of bread rolls, croissants and pastries is also served with breakfast each day, along with a plate of cheese and cold meat, which did seem a bit wasteful as many guests didn’t seem to eat this as they’d filled up on the other menu items. Perhaps the hotel need to review this. The pool area, adjacent to the breakfast room, doesn’t open until 10.00 so people couldn’t get up early to put towels on the sunbeds, which was good. There were plenty of sunbeds available throughout our stay and you could move around in and out of the sun during the day. Drinks and snacks were available by the pool throughout the day, and were reasonably priced. The hotel has a lovely terrace bar overlooking the bay, but unfortunately this didn’t open till 18.00, which was a shame as at the time of our visit in May, the best of the sunshine had gone. Perhaps this is something the hotel could review and perhaps offer a Happy Hour to get guests to use it more. As many other reviewers have stated, the hotel is located uphill from the old town, so may not be suitable for those with mobility problems or for families with young children. All in all we had a lovely stay at the Hotel Do Cerro and would have no hesitation returning in the future.

The hotel staff were excellent,particularly the dining and reception staff. The pool was a good size but very chilly in the mornings. There were several extras which we hadn't anticipated,particularly hire of kettle and use of spa/gym. The food was tasty-like good home cooking. However,our last memories of Hotel Do Cerro were not good. As we were checking out before the dining room opened at 8am,we asked what would happen about breakfast as the coach was due to pick us up at 7.20. We were told we would be given a breakfast bag. However,policy was that this was given after we checked out. Why? We could have been given this the night before. Having left our room,there was nowhere suitable to have our breakfast bag,and importantly,nowhere to make a hot drink to have with it. Again why? 2 or 3 heated jugs could have solved the problem,and as the cocktail bar wasn't being used we could have eaten there. So we ate our meagre 'breakfast' outside,looking at the hotel opposite where we'd stayed before and will probably choose next time in preference to Hotel Do Cerro.
