“Great place to relax.”

Stayed here previously 4 or 5 years ago. As good as ever, very clean, great staff, comfy rooms and great breakfast. Location is about a km to the marina and another km to Albufeira. So close enough but well away from the bright lights so to speak.

Stayed here for four nights last week (May '24) and had a lovely time. Our room was spacious and clean, and the beds were really comfy too. We went bed and breakfast, and the breakfast options were good - loads of fresh fruit, and the usual continental offering - and a cooked breakfast could be made to order on request (no charge). The pool area was nice. The loungers and parasols are a bit dated and could probably do with being replaced, but they are functional, and once they have a towel on them then they're absolutely fine. The hotel was really quiet when we stayed so we got loungers no problem, but there aren't many, so this could be a problem in high season perhaps. The view from the pool area is gorgeous, and theres an extra in pool/bar seating area too. Snacks (toasties, wraps, pizzas) from the snack bar were great, and there seemed to be a big selection of branded drinks. We hired pool towels from reception for 5 euro each, and we swapped them out a couple of times, and got the deposit back no problem when we checked out. The reception staff were fab, always very helpful and friendly - they helped us book an excursion and recommended places to go too. Also, checkout time is midday, which is great! The little shop under the hotel is nice, but very expensive. Unless your desperate for something, you'd be better to walk down to the Spar at the marina and save yourself a lot of money! Would happily go back, had a really good time! As other reviews have said, the hotel is at the top of a steep hill. It's walkable if you're able bodied, but would be a real struggle if you're unfit, or have a pram or wheelchair etc. A taxi from the marina costs about 6 euro, and about 12 euro from the old town. We mostly walked down and taxi'd back, but we did tackle the hill a few times and its not quite as bad as it looks!

We arrived before check in and they allowed us to check in early. Reception area was clean and spacious. We went to our room with a side sea view. Our initial thoughts were nice room. However, on closer inspection, although clean, there were numerous, large and unsightly rust marks on the bath, the lamp shades had brown marks on them and there were several quite sizeable bits of chocolate on the floor. The carpet looked dated. I let reception know about the marks on the bath and they said they would let daytime staff know and see if we could change rooms. We were there for 4 nights, no one contacted us. Overall the hotel was clean, however, in need of updating and maintenance.

“Definitely NOT a 4* hotel”

We booked a week here for our honeymoon as it was adult only and had great reviews, I'm not sure who wrote these great reviews but we certainly didn't get the 4* hotel feeling or the 5* reviews. Where do I start? We booked a week here for our honeymoon as it was adult only and had great reviews, I'm not sure who wrote these great reviews but we certainly didn't get the 4* hotel feeling or the 5* reviews. Firstly, we were "upgraded" to a sea view room, except the sea view was pretty spoilt by the building works directly opposite our room, where the noise starts from 7am til at least 6pm. Next, the kettle in our room was a cheap, plastic travel kettle, which is ok IF the hotel provided coffee, tea, sugar and milk, or even decent mugs instead of the 2 awful paper cups we were left with, we had to go purchase our own from local shop. Then onto the TV... Only 1 UK channel, which was sky news on a loop ALL DAY, that's it, not even English subtitles. Ok, so I'll shower instead..well, the smell of sewage when you 1st turn on water is horrific, the cheap, plastic showerhead however worked wonderfully for about 30 secs when you then get a sudden blast of cold water, then boiling hot, Luke warm and finally hot again. Also, no posh toiletries bottles as suggested on website photos, just 1 bottle of body wash/shampoo to share and 1 bottle of soap near sink, complete with 2 more paper cups, weirdly next to sink for reasons unknown. No bath mat so you either soak the floor or have to use one of the hand towels they provide to put on floor. The outside pool was freezing and dirty, but ok if you keep your mouth closed I guess. Sun loungers need replacing ASAP, they are filthy. Aqua bar was nice, nobody used it but was a nice touch and warm too. Although drinks were expensive anyway. Outside area needs massive overhaul to update it, everywhere looked dirty and dingy. On a plus, staff were lovely and the breakfast options were sufficient. Finally, it's on a very, very high hill...ok to walk down but walking up...WOW!!! we did it once, never again, we used the local bolt services to drive us everywhere, very quick and cheap. If you can, please visit the Marina, it's beautiful and old town (not the strip) ... absolutely stunning beaches and views. On a whole, we will NOT be staying here again, did not enjoy the experience at all. How it's a 4* hotel I'll never know, more like a 2 or 3 at a push. Take no notice of pics on website, they are not a true definition of the hotel.
