We’ve just returned from a lovely stay at The Patio Suite and were genuinely impressed throughout. The apartments are huge, and as we were on the top floor, we had a massive patio overlooking the trees and pool, which was a fabulous spot to sit with a coffee or a drink and enjoy the peace and quiet. The food selection was excellent, with plenty of choice across the week. As someone who is gluten intolerant, I had lots of options and always felt completely safe eating there. My daughter is coeliac and autistic, so she tends to prefer “beige” foods, which was a little challenging at times, but the restaurant staff were fantastic and happily provided plain pasta with tomato sauce separately for her whenever needed. Plenty of children’s options including pizza if you have no dietary requirements! The restaurant team really deserve a special mention. Front of house would always show us around all the dishes and point out what was safe and what wasn’t. Everything was clearly labelled though. They clearly understood dietary requirements and took them seriously. Some items that would often be assumed to be gluten free elsewhere, such as fries and hash browns, were correctly marked as containing gluten due to cross-contamination from shared fryers. Whilst this did make choices a little more limited, it actually gave us confidence that the staff fully understood coeliac safety rather than making assumptions. There were a couple of things we found slightly puzzling, such as bacon being served in a tray on top of bread, meaning it was no longer gluten free. However, when we mentioned it, the staff were more than happy to cook some separately in the kitchen. They also provided gluten free bread, muffins and croissants, all prepared carefully, with a dedicated toaster operated only by staff for gluten-free items. GF cereal was provided directly from the kitchen as well, avoiding any risk of contamination from other guests. It was also refreshing to find good lactose free options available, rather than simply being directed towards plant-based alternatives. The hotel itself was excellent. Both pools were a lovely temperature and never felt overcrowded. The all-inclusive drinks selection was very good, and whilst the entertainment was the usual holiday fare, we thoroughly enjoyed quiz night (which we won!). We slept comfortably every night, the staff throughout the hotel were incredibly helpful, and the shuttle buses to the two beautiful nearby beaches were a fantastic addition. Uber was very easy to use and surprisingly reasonably priced for getting around the area. Staff were also happy to help arrange excursions, and on days out they prepared delicious packed lunches for guests who would be away from the hotel. Overall, we had a fantastic stay. Comfortable accommodation, excellent food, genuinely outstanding restaurant staff, and a level of understanding around dietary requirements that made us feel completely looked after from start to finish.
