Well what can I say about this place apart from beautiful, quiet, peaceful, relaxing. Was everything we needed. Stayed in house 18 and what an amazing house it was with the most beautiful view. Staff all through excellent and friendly couldn’t ask for more. We had an issue with the kettle but after ringing reception was replaced promptly nothing too much trouble. The pool was absolutely freezing but once in not too bad so don’t let it put you off the sea was much colder.🥶 the pool does need a little fixing on the floor as lots of lose stones from broken bits which I ripped the skin off my toe but it didn’t stop us using it just learnt where the bad bits were. Food from the restaurant at the pool was great. Now let’s talk about that hill……,,. Yes that hill 🤦‍♀️, well if you’re fit like my husband then you can walk is as he did every day me on the other hand managed half way and thought I was going to die so he carried me over his shoulder the rest of the way, thank god for house 18 not been always to the top because I think I’d of just slept on the sand 😂😂. Jokes aside the shuttle/buggy service was well used by use such an amazing thing and the drivers are brilliant picked up with no trouble. If you’re looking for a quieter relaxed holiday then give this place a try absolutely couldn’t recommend any more! Thank you salema 👌👌👌

We had a fantastic stay at this property. The location was perfect for a peaceful and quiet getaway, making it easy to relax and unwind. The rooms were comfortable, well-maintained, and cleaned daily, which made our stay even more enjoyable. A car is definitely recommended, as you'll need one to get around and explore the surrounding area. Other than that, everything was great. There was honestly nothing bad to say about this place. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable and tranquil place to stay. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had a lovely stay in a two-bedroom townhouse with pool views. The house itself was great — spacious, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. There is no supermarket near to the accommodation and, knowing this, we stopped at the Intermarche supermarket en route from the airport. We then managed with the mini market in Salema town for top ups The kids loved the pool, and so did we! It was cool but fine once you got in. The on-demand shuttle service to the beach was also fantastic and made getting around so easy. We were particularly lucky to have Leonardo driving us on several occasions — he was absolutely lovely. Recommend Casa Pizza, who were wonderfully helpful with an allergy one of us has, had pizza on the beautiful beach with stunning views. Other restaurants looked lovely too. We also enjoyed the pool bar and cafe. As you would expect from an on-site venue, prices weren’t the cheapest, but the food was good and beautifully prepared by the wonderful Claudia. The real highlight of our stay, though, was the exceptional service from Luiz, who runs the pool bar and restaurant. He is incredibly friendly, kind and efficient and went out of his way to make sure everyone was looked after. He is a real credit to NAU Salema Beach Village. He is ably assisted by Edson, who was also lovely. I would describe the resort as a solid 4-star experience. There are some areas that would benefit from investment and an upgrade, as mentioned in other reviews — particularly the pool flooring and some of the pool umbrellas. These things didn’t spoil our stay, but addressing them would elevate the overall experience. One small point: we probably wouldn’t choose townhouse 107 again. The wind seemed to whip around the property at night and could be quite noisy on the upstairs floor. Thankfully, it didn’t disturb us in the bedrooms. Overall, though, we had a good stay, felt well looked after and would return. Salema is a beautiful destination, the house had good facilities and, above all, some genuinely lovely people who made our holiday special.

A lovely location and spacious villas, but a few areas need attention and maintenance. Our stay at NAU Salema Beach was a bit of a mixed bag, but it’s worth putting our review into context: we travelled in peak season and paid a premium price, so our expectations were high. Overall, there is a lot to like about the resort, but there are also areas where investment and attention to detail could make a significant difference. The positives The villas are large, spacious and clean, and ours had a lovely sea view. The jacuzzi bath in the main en-suite was also a nice touch, as were the L’Occitane toiletries. The balcony and roof terrace are lovely spaces, although they could benefit from a little more TLC. The garden was slightly overgrown and the deckchairs and tables could have done with a clean. There was also no furniture on the roof terrace, meaning you could only really stand there to enjoy the view. With a little more attention to the garden and outdoor furniture, these could be fantastic spaces for enjoying the views and sunshine. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout our visit. Whenever we raised an issue, reception was responsive — for example, when we reported a problem with a plug socket, someone was sent to look at it straight away. The pool area is popular and has plenty of loungers, as well as a café/bar, so it’s a pleasant place to spend the day - but there are some issues with maintenance of the pool area - more on this below. Salema itself is lovely. It’s a picturesque village with a beautiful beach and some very good restaurants. There are also a few mini-markets where you can pick up basic essentials. Areas for improvement The pool area - some of the pool floor is coming away, and the pool itself is lined with a rough textured material which led to my 7 year old grazing her feet pretty much daily. Many of the umbrella bases are old and rusty and don’t fit the umbrellas properly, this makes the umbrellas particularly vulnerable to blowing off in the wind (and Salema is windy!). During our stay, we saw umbrellas blown over or into the pool on several occasions. The metal bar of one blew into my partners head while he was sitting on a lounger reading, giving him a headache for the rest of the day! On a separate occasion I saw 3 sun umbrellas uplifted by the wind at once, and the bar staff seem to frequently have to rescue guests from the risks of flying umbrellas! I think this could be relatively easily addressed by investing in sturdier, more wind-resistant umbrellas and properly fitting and weighted bases. This would make the pool area feel both safer and more polished. The villa - overall the house was very nice and spacious, but there was an unpleasant ‘drain’ smell in the 2nd en-suite bathroom, which unfortunately affected the bedroom as well. This may have been an isolated issue with our particular villa, but it is something we think would be worth investigating. There was also a broken plastic casing around one of the plug sockets in the bedroom where our seven-year-old was sleeping, leaving some of the metal socket exposed. This was potentially dangerous and we reported it to reception who, to their credit, arranged for someone to come and to fix it straight away. The famous hill! Yes, the hill really is as steep as everyone says! It can be hard work, particularly after a day at the beach or if you have young children. On the other hand, it was a good way to get some daily exercise in! The resort does provide a buggy service, which is a bonus. When we were tired, it was straightforward to arrange for the buggy to collect us and take us back up the hill, and this definitely helps mitigate the location. Salema Salema itself is a wonderful place to stay, but I would recommend having a hire car if you want to explore the area or need to do a proper food shop. There are small shops in the village for essentials, but there isn’t a large supermarket or pharmacy within easy walking distance. The nearest proper supermarket (Intermarché) is around a 5–10 minute drive away, and a taxi there and back - which is easy to organise at the resort - costs roughly €20. Overall We enjoyed many aspects of our stay — particularly the spacious villa, sea view, friendly staff, pool and beautiful setting of Salema. The basic bones of the resort are excellent: the location is beautiful, the villas are spacious and the setting has a lot of potential. With some investment in the pool area, particularly the umbrellas and pool tiles, more proactive attention to maintenance and plumbing, NAU Salema Beach could be a really lovely place to stay. For us, the down sides were less about any single issue and more about the accumulation of various things. A little more attention to detail and ongoing maintenance would go a long way towards ensuring consistently high standards for guests.
