“Beautiful hotel would go again”

My husband and I booked a week at this hotel and had a beautiful stay. Check-in was a little delayed. We arrived at 3pm but didn’t get into our room until 4:30pm. During that time, we made use of the bar, where the staff were a delight and made some beautiful cocktails for us to enjoy. The bar itself was lovely, and we really enjoyed the chilled atmosphere. It was a shame that from Monday to Thursday it closed at 6pm. Our room was a really good size, with double doors that opened fully onto the beautiful courtyard. We were especially grateful for the air conditioning. The bed was made up of two single beds pushed together, which isn’t ideal, but we’ve found this to be quite common in Portugal, so it wasn’t unexpected. The TV offered plenty of channels, and the bathroom was spacious. The shower wasn’t great, but my husband secured the shower head with a hairband, which worked perfectly for the rest of our stay! The breakfast could have offered a little more variety, as it was pretty much the same every morning—mushrooms, scrambled eggs, baked beans, and toast (if you were prepared to wait quite a while for the toaster). However, the fresh fruit, pastel de nata, coffee, and juices were all delicious. We ate in the restaurant twice during our stay, and both meals were excellent. The only thing that surprised me was the price of bottled water. Considering the water comes from the Monchique mountains, literally on the hotel’s doorstep, it felt quite expensive. We bought the same bottled water from a nearby supermarket for a fraction of the price. We’re glad we didn’t book dinner as part of our package because the menu remained the same throughout the week, and I think it would have become repetitive. They also have a pizza oven serving pizzas until 5pm each day, which looked delicious, although we didn’t get the chance to try one as we were out exploring most days. The swimming pool was beautiful, peaceful, and surrounded by stunning gardens. Unfortunately we were told on arrival that the spa was not open due to maintenance which was such a shame as we would have loved to use the facility and it the main title of the hotel. The hotel grounds are absolutely beautiful. We especially loved the peaceful walk alongside the water—it was one of the highlights of our stay. There was plenty of parking, and overall we had a wonderful holiday. We would definitely visit again.
