I visit the Algarve a lot with family and friends. I have stayed in Atlantic Hotels other properties in Portimao and have found them excellent value. First off, I wouldn't come here in the height of summer as the seven story block would be noisy and crowded and the sound insulation is minimal. Second. All the rooms are somewhat dated and differ in spec. My mother's studio (room 606) is smaller with aircon. My room (607) is larger but has no aircon. A guest in the summer should enquire about this point and the specThird. The reception is at Atlanticchoice's other hotel, the Plaza Real about 1 1/2 miles away. The location is good and he apartment are clean and everything does work. Families will exhaust the tank of hot water quickly if everyone lingers in the showers and they take a long time to see heat again. This is a budget accommodation and consideration should be given to that? The beds are ok comfy and linin is fresh and clean. One generally gets what one pays for and in January, I consider the apartments we are in now to be excellent value and have no major complaints. I booked through Booking.com who use Agoda as the provider.

I arrived around 10pm at night. I went to reception at vau hotel only to be told that my accommodation was in the building next door. I arrived around 10pm at night. I went to reception at vau hotel only to be told that my accommodation was in the building next door. I was told there was no reception so would have to go to Plaza Real Hotel to check in and get my keys. This cost £16 euros return in a taxi. I was upgraded to a larger apartment with two bedrooms. The apartment on 6th floor was spotlessly clean with fridge freezer, microwave, kettle, toaster and coffee machine. There was a huge balcony with table and chairs. It's in a quiet area with a couple of supermarkets and various restaurants nearby. The beach is a short walk away. There is a bus stop near to the beach where you can get a bus to prai da Rocha, and Portimao, and Alvor. All worth a visit. The apartment was great value and I would stay again.

Just had a week here with my husband. There is NO reception. 14 euro in a taxi to go to another hotel to get your key!!! Imagine this is a nightmare if you're travelling alone or at night. No maid service all week. No clean towels. The hotel is basically unmanned. On the good side the apartment was big and with a large balcony. Very clean!! And free air con. Would I go again? Maybe, just as a couple. With children? No
