Our third time here over the years. I really enjoyed it. Very friendly and professional service, nice room donning out to the pool. There was a small terrace outside the room. There could have been partitions between the terraces, there were some low planters with low plants, why not have tall plants? (This problem pertains only to the ground floor rooms donning out to the pool.) The pool was nice, clean! And the sun chairs extremely comfortable. Breakfast was fine with all you need, although I have seen greater breakfasts before, but that is a luxury problem. The breakfast room has poor capacity, so one had to queue up, but the maître d' managed it all very well..They also have a heated, indoor pool and a spa. The room was without fault. The hotel is situated in "the end" of "Downtown Tavira ", so one is within walking distance from the pittoresque parts of Tavira. The distances are short.. It is situated close to the food market (which is a tourist trap, but lively and fun to experience (but they have excellent butchers there!)). Large lobby with Morroccan style, could have been more elegant seeing as the architecture itself is in the moorish style. In the bar the bartender was extremely professional and knowledgeable! Very serviceminded!

Second stay at this hotel & very impressed with staff, facilities & location. Room are comfortable & quite large. We contacted hotel before arrival & they we were allocated the room type we requested. Breakfast very good with a lot of choice. I had a different selection on the 6 days we stayed. Booked B & B only but ate at the evening buffet on our first night. Good choice but nothing special. Booked a la carte on our final night & really enjoyed our meals. Price not much more than buffet. Used the indoor pool & spa on one day but prefer outdoor pools. Outdoor pool was quire chilly which suited me as I had it to myself in the afternoons after days out. The staff in Vila Gale Tavira are so friendly & helpful. Look forward to our next visit.

Stayed here with my husband b&b for 7 nights I will break down the review into parts. The room Two single beds pushed together to make a double to be honest this was slightly annoying as the beds would move if you both were in the middle but I understand they do it to separate for non couples. Would have preferred an actual double bed. Room was spotlessly clean and was maintained daily. It is spacious and nicely decorated. Couple other niggles the safe you have to pay for daily other places I have stayed either charge a deposit which you get back once key is returned or free so to be charged daily I feel is not warranted. Also kettle tea and coffee does not come as standard you have to request this but it’s free of charge. No iron available to hire they have a laundry service they charge for but I forgot our travel iron I just wanted to give t-shirts a once over not a service. Our room was facing the street and that was fine it is extremely quiet so it didn’t bother us. Bottles in fridge over price 5min walk to shops buy your own instead. Food We stayed b&b and breakfast is plentiful with lots of choice. However the choice doesn’t change from day to day. They have a live cooking station which makes crapes, omelettes, fried eggs. I think offering something different here would have been appreciated as you come be underwhelmed by day 4. The food is well cooked and presented well we enjoyed everything we ate. We paid for the buffet at night twice €27 each not including drinks I think is reasonable the food was hot and good quality with live cooking station we enjoyed the food. We also ate twice at the snack bar having toasties which were €6-€8 and come with chips so decent prices and did their job. In Tavira it has so many beautiful restaurants it’s not worth going half board. Staff All the staff were polite and friendly they did what they could to be accommodating and make your stay enjoyable. 10/10 for all the workers. The hotel amenities Indoor pool you need to book but it’s free it has a steam room and hydro jacuzzi. You need a swim cap here €4 to purchase or bring your own. Enjoyed the indoor pool on cloudy days. Outdoor pool absolutely freezing we went April so not extremely hot weather. There’s a small children’s pool with small slides under 6’s would enjoy. Sun loungers and parasols. It was extremely quiet when we visited so had our pick any time of the day not sure how it would be in high season. Entertainment so… if you want to relax and chill here is definitely the place don’t expect loud music and pool games there were activities such as bingo, yoga, pool etc very calm and laid back. The entertainment team did a great job but it’s not a place I would bring kids it’s too laid back for that for us as a couple getting away from our kids that was amazing and we loved it but for families it’s a bit slow paced. Night entertainment was two nights a saxophone player and two nights two men singing playing guitar and beats both very talented and enjoyable which we enjoyed but would have liked a show such as a Portuguese show or dancing something a little bit more up beat but we were happy with what was provided. There’s a pool table €7.50 per hour and a dart board not sure of that price. If your a wine drinker you can buy two bottles of wine from reception for under €6 which is the wine they serve in the bar for €2.90 a glass so definitely worth buying a bottle from reception rather than the bar. Cocktails were nice around €7-€9 each. The grounds Absolutely spotless staff constantly cleaning and it is maintained well. I read reviews saying it was “dated” we didn’t feel this was the case we found it beautiful and charming. It’s three level building and everything is easily accessible. Location This was our first time in Tavira and we loved it the hotel is close to everything. If it’s your first time I would recommend going on the land train that stops outside the hotel it takes you around the place stopping off at the castle ruins and drops you back off at the hotel good way to see what is about €7 each takes about 1hr. All the restaurants, shops, river, main square are 5-10mins walk away depending if you take the scenic route around the streets looking at the beautiful buildings or straight down the rivers edge. All in all I would recommend this place for adults and couples wanting some RnR we would love to return for a visit.

This was my fifth stay in the Vila Galé Tavira. It is in a great location and is a nice hotel, but there have been no changes in the time I’ve been coming (first visit was in 2017). It is in need of some updating. In particular the lobby area requires improvements as none of the seating is comfortable enough enough to sit on for any length of time. Poorly designed furniture in the bedroom meant lack of space to store things. Although the lamps in the bedroom looked attractive, the lighting was poor. Unfortunately I also found the bed to be pretty uncomfortable - whatever the mattress protector was made of was palpable under the sheet and very noisy. The breakfast was nice, with plenty of choice. The staff were all extremely pleasant. Sadly I don’t think I’ll return for a sixth visit.
