We stayed a week here and it was amazing from start to finish. All of the staff (and there were plenty of staff in this hotel) were fantastic. Check in was as easy as it can get and we received lots of information. We arrived before 10am and whilst the room was not ready we were allowed to join the end of the breakfast service – a nice touch. Even better, as promised, the reception rang me (whilst we relaxed by the pool) to tell us our room was ready in the early afternoon. And what a room it was. We had been upgraded to a 2 bedroom apartment which was very much appreciated. Loads of room and great facilities. A nice large balcony too. Absolutely no complaints with the room and I expect that would have been the case had we had our intended room. Food and drinks were great, although a bit on the pricey side. Breakfast (in with our rate) was very good, wide choices and fresh eggs – either omelettes or fried eggs available. Lunch options at the restaurant near the pool were good, especially the pizzas. We did not eat in the bar in the evening but plenty other people did and the food looked good. The terrace outside the bar was a wonderful place to relax in the evening and the service was always great and attentive meaning you didn’t have to leave your seat. Most evenings we went to the marina and we mostly took the opportunity to use the shuttle bus. Now, as it was getting busy during our stay we were normally unable to get on the shuttle bus due to demand. However, the bus did come straight back to collect those that could not get on the first time around, which was a nice touch. Alternatively, we booked an Uber sometimes which was generally £3-5 each way from the hotel to the marina. The pool scene at the hotel was very relaxing. Lots of good quality sunbeds and umbrellas were available. They are generally arranged very close to each other but around the edges and the ends of the rows, the beds and umbrellas can be manipulated to create a bit of space. The pool is very clean although on the cold side. If we had to summarise this stay we would say that it is relaxing, quiet, classy and friendly. Great staff, rooms, and facilities. We couldn’t ask for any more.

“Relaxing holiday, excellent breakfasts”

Lovely family holiday, 5 of us in 3 rooms (travelling with grown up children). All the rooms were good, especially our Deluxe Plus room which was basically a suite with a separate large sitting area and double length balcony, 2 TV’s and lots of space for us to assemble for drinks in the evening before or after dinner (useful as the football World Cup was on during our stay). The only downside of this room was that it was meant to have a Golf Course view which was really only a distant view, it was more of a road view. It was also above the main hotel delivery area which meant that in the mornings around 8am we were woken by the sound and smells of delivery lorries. (I did feed this back to Reception) Staff at breakfast were excellent and very accommodating. We sat outside every day and had among the best breakfasts we have had in any 5 star hotel. Plenty of choice including freshly cooked eggs. Food was constantly refreshed and hot drinks to order to the table. We ate outside on several evenings in the more informal Rubi bar and enjoyed good food and cocktails although quite expensive. Staff in the restaurants were all very attentive and we had an excellent meal at Cilantro which was more fine dining, where the atmosphere was lovely. We sat in the inner courtyard and were well looked after. At lunchtime we ate a few times at the very lively and popular Aquarella by the pool which was a really nice place for lunch although the menu was great if you wanted a meal but more limited if you only wanted something small. We chose to sit by the Adult only pool, the ‘Romance pool’ as we found the main pools too noisy and busy. The service from the pool staff bringing drinks was excellent although we thought the pool itself was a bit odd as it is tiled all in red and is quite shallow, in fact it looks like it may have previously been a kids pool. It was at least pretty quiet for most of the time we were there. The local area was not as good as the areas we are used to around Val de Lobo, Quinta do Lago, Dunas Douradas etc. Although it was not too busy, we thought Villamoura was a bit underwhelming but it was fine for a bit of shopping or drinks, and there are plenty of places to eat. The hotel shuttle bus is handy although gets busy but there are also other options (uber/bolt/taxi etc) easily available. We ate out one evening at Cafe del Arte just behind the hotel where the service was excellent and we had a huge choice of small plates in a pretty outside space. The weather was lovely when we were there (in fact a really pleasant temperature compared to the UK where there was a heat wave), although we did get a lot of mozzie bites so would recommend taking insect repellent. We travelled with British Airways as part of British Airways holidays and were really impressed with all the organisation, flights etc.

“Comfortable stay”

Stay was very comfortable, lovely room over looking the golf course on the 4th floor. Breakfast buffet was great, lovely friendly staff who were always cheerful and greeted you. Shuttle bus to marina and beach was very useful as fair distance, 30+ minutes and in the heat would be difficult. Need… more

Stay was very comfortable, lovely room over looking the golf course on the 4th floor. Breakfast buffet was great, lovely friendly staff who were always cheerful and greeted you. Shuttle bus to marina and beach was very useful as fair distance, 30+ minutes and in the heat would be difficult. Needed a bit of maintenance in shower cubicle as there was some mould and also some of the furniture was a bit battered and needed fixing/painting. Not what you would expect from a 5* hotel but overall, great hotel.
