Beautiful hotel with a gorgeous lobby to welcome you that smells so good all the time ! We had booked airport transfers with the hotel and was met at Faro and only took about 25 minutes and all very efficient. We were allowed to check in early as arrived at 1pm which was nice. We had booked two golf view rooms which is essentially the back of the hotel. Rooms were great, nice and big although the AC was not very efficient as we had some days over 30 so it struggled. Bathroom was lovely with a sunken big tub and separate shower. Wardrobe space limited for 2 adults staying 10 days. Breakfast was lovely and so much choice. Fresh omelets and poached eggs cooked to order. Drank so much fresh OJ it was gorgeous 🍊 We had a few lunches by the pool and although fairly pricey, big portions so we shared but lovey sitting in the caves as nice and cool. The pools are lovely and we always got comfy sun beds no matter what time we came down. Adult only pool looked a little seedy as red so not the vibe we were looking for so stayed at the main pools as although children in them we went before school holidays so not too overwhelmed. Husband played golf and was all arranged in the pro shop in reception in advance. He was very pleased with the service of shuttles to the courses, club hire etc… You could walk to Pinhal course as right at the hotel so met him for lunch on the terrace after a round which was nice. The free shuttles to the beach and marina are a god send! Used these all the time and then just got an uber back for €5. They have an allocation of about 30 ish free sun beds and parasols on the beach which we used but once these are gone you will have to pay but we always got them using the first shuttle out at 10am. The marina is stunning and we went every night and ate in different restaurants which we loved. I booked online in advance so we always got what we wanted but you can just walk in to places too. Took the boat taxi to Albufeira for €5 which took about an hour and was lovely and got an uber back for €15. We loved our holiday and will be back next year for sure!

On arrival we were greeted with a friendly smile. We arrived early but the hotel found a room that we could check into earlier so we could shower after travelling rather than wait until the allotted check in time. The room itself was a deluxe twin and overlooked the main road. The room was clean, airy and very comfortable. A large private balcony was provided. The only downside was that our room was directly above the loading bay so was quite noisy in the morning with the deliveries. This room was 2020. I recommend a pool view room, which we later checked into. The pool area was very clean. A true resort feel. Several pools, food and drink available from pool restaurant and my favourite, an adult only pool which was very private and quiet. Parking is free and this was extremely easy to use. The location of the hotel to Vilamoura main harbour is around 8 mins in a car. A spa is available at extra cost but I did not use.

The hotel is brilliant, spacious and bed is very comfortable. The shuttle mini bus to Marina and the beach is excellent. The staff Wow! Excellent and I wish every place should have like them 6 star for staff. However, the only thing that let this place down is the quality and taste of food. The senior managers should take this seriously as the duty manager and the catering manager living in denial even though the duty my has been spoken to but not listening. There was a new menu on Thursday 2nd July it was excellent but if the hotel is going to treat half board visitors as second class then I don’t want to go back as it’s my money and hotel and it’s managers cannot dictate to me their terms conditions. My wife and I love Villamoura and will go to another hotel as the managers we have spoken to don’t care. It’s a shame because it’s a lovely hotel and the staff have been brilliant but it’s a food that we don’t like.

We stayed here for a week. The facilities were amazing. Loved the adults only pool and room was great. I have marked this as a 3 because of our food experience. We stayed half board. Breakfast as expected, selection of hot and cold foods. Loved the Portuguese tarts often hot from the oven. What let this hotel was food in the evening. We were half board. We had the same menu all week and the meals were tasteless and dry. Nothing appeared to come with sauce except one steak dish which was a fatty lump of steak on a bed of crisps (marketed as sauté potatoes). On our last night we were told we could choose from the al a carte menu which was another level. Food extremely tasty. We then found out that if you paid half board you had one menu and one chef but other people got a better menu and a top class chef!! Really. If I pay for half board at a 5 star hotel I expect 5 star food not second class. Was thinking of coming back but after finding this out. No way. Also drinks were very expensive and even soft drinks incurred a service charge.
