We had a lovely stay at Chalet Saudade. We had a spacious, well-decorated suite for relaxing after walking the hills and steps of Sintra. We were on the first floor with an easy flight of stairs. The bed was comfortable and the living room space allowed spreading out for rest and exercise after the hill walking! The historic center was just a 10-15 minute walk with shopping, eating establishments and many of the sites within walking distance. We used Uber when needed and found it easy and efficient.We enjoyed the common areas and the night-cap of port. Thank you! I agree, as a gardener, with a previous reviewer that the entry yard is a missed opportunity for plants and cozy seating, but even so the chalet is a gem for visitors in Sintra. I am so happy we found Chalet Saudade.

“Enchanting hotel,book a room with the garden view”

Lovely hotel,service was exceptional. Quiet evenings and short walks to cafes. Most attractions are within walking.

When our Uber pulled up to the inn, we feared that something had happened and it was just an abandoned building. The front gate seemed locked, the courtyard had a empty fountain with a watering can tossed as well as some neglected plants in pots, and the patio had a couple of mismatched tables and chairs. After finding a buzzer, a young woman appeared after the second try. She let us in and told us that the gate was unlocked and that we just needed to reach inside the gate to unlatch. After dropping off luggage, we ran into another new guest at the gate who was as confused as we were. As the other reviewers have indicated, the Chalet is in a fabulous location, and we had a very nice walk into town. When we got back later that afternoon, we were shown to our room. A middle age woman who couldn't have weighed 100 lbs offered to help with our bags and show us to our room. She warned us that there were lots of stair, but my husband insisted on carrying our two bags himself. Seemed harrowing to me as we descended three stories down on very narrow winding stairs. We had the room with the stone walls that appear on many of the pictures. It was a very interestingly beautiful (and enormous) room, and there was a courtyard outside our sitting area. This could have been amazing, but the outdoor space really showed a lack of care. Some potted plants or flowers and cushions on the patio set would have been nice. Instead, we sat on the stairs outside our door. Our experience wasn't terrible, and everyone was nice, but this building and location, it could have been so much better.
