An ancient and noble Minho house probably built in the 16th century though the exact date is unknown. It is recorded, however, that in 1669 the ancestors of the current owners, the Faria de Araújo family, purchased Casa do Ameal for just 3, 500 shillings. This surprising manor house, located at about 1 km from Viana do Castelo, has its own handicrafts and costumes museum and its original architec… more

“Excellent and authentic”
Beautiful garden and house and very helpful staff. Excellent breakfast! Would come back anytime! Traditional and authentic manor house with extensive gardens including a small pool, lemon and orange groves. Our room allowed selfcatering, supermarket across the road.

“Amazing boutique house in Viana”
Amazing stay! Great house close to Viana do Castelo with a lot of history and a charming family. Clearly "the" place to stay in Vianca do Castelo! Very nice rooms and pool, the old house where the familly stays is spectacular! Look forward to come again!

The spaces are simple, clean and rustic (we had the two bedroom suites with a small kitchen, dining and living area). The breakfast was great and slightly different every day (loved … more
