I stayed at Volcanic Charming House in Ribeira Grande and absolutely loved it. The location was perfect, tucked in such a peaceful spot, and the whole place had this calm, welcoming energy. The staff were so kind and friendly—it really felt like they cared and wanted to make sure everything was just right. The rooms were spotless and comfortable, but what really stood out to me was breakfast. There were so many options, and sitting there in the morning felt like the best possible way to start the day. It became one of my favorite parts of the trip. I honestly don’t have a single complaint. Everything about my stay felt easy and enjoyable. I’d go back in a heartbeat and would recommend it to anyone visiting São Miguel.

“Great Location and Staff”

The property is in the perfect location so that you don’t have to drive down the very narrow town streets but right there so you can walk down them to all the great restaurants. The property is in the perfect location so that you don’t have to drive down the very narrow town streets but right there so you can walk down them to all the great restaurants. The pool area is gorgeous and calming and where breakfast was served. Our room was on the second floor and nicely equipped with all we needed. The only negative is that the walls and doors are very thin so if guests are up early or late you hear EVERYTHING! When we were there a group of 8 left at 5am and weren’t trying to be loud but the noise was enough that another guest opened their door and shushed them. On a separate note, the kitchen is well equipped and wine is well stocked. We had two bottles of the same kind and they had serval more available. It also didn’t seem they up charged for the wine which was a nice surprise. The staff was amazing and helped explain the different wines they had and answered all our questions so kindly. They also provided a small breakfast for us on our check out day as we had to leave before the breakfast service comprised of yogurt, granola and a coffee. Highly recommend a stay here for location and service alone.

Pros: This is small family owned hotel. Hotel has decent breakfast, good kitchen for guests to use , small warm swimming pool, provides towels for the beach, has parking. Pros: This is small family owned hotel. Hotel has decent breakfast, good kitchen for guests to use , small warm swimming pool, provides towels for the beach, has parking. Cons: poor ventilation in the room, none in the bathroom, no closet, no private light- lights entire room, when light is on in the bathroom- lights the room due to glass door, noisy in the morning. We paid during booking on Expedia ,communicated via messages with owner , added extra night due to very early morning arrival time, however hotel charged us much more on arrival and owner never came back to us. Our flight was delayed and the hotel did not provide breakfast we we asking for in advance and paid for.
