We had a great stay here and it exceeded expectations. We were looking for a short bank holiday sunshine get away, we wanted 3 nights, close to the airport and near to local restaurants for the evening. We took a bit of a risk on this one because the hotel appeared to have reopened following a refurb and there were limited TA reviews. Those that were there mixed. In the end we gave it a chance as the photos looked good, it was adult orientated and the poor reviews weren’t really about anything that would bother us. So glad we did. It was a really lovely break. We travelled with Jet 2 and got private transfers, about 20 mins from the airport so ideal for a shorter stay. We arrived around 1.30pm and were able to check in straight away and access the room. No queue or waiting at all. Room was lovely, nicely decorated, spacious enough, decent walk in shower and bathroom area and water and tea coffee provided. Note they don’t refill the water but a big bottle is about 3 euros from the hotel if you don’t fancy going to the shops. Not sure if tea/coffee is refilled as we didn’t use it. Balcony didn’t look to have been redecorated and in itself nothing special but we had a seaview room on the top floor (8th) which had amazing views. The bed was super comfortable, air con at a sensible level and we slept brilliantly with no noise disturbance. After arrival we headed straight to the pool. Again a lovely area looking right out onto the sea, we got sunbeds without any difficulty although we were on the right side of the pool (if you were looking out to sea) and the sun does disappear from there early so we ended up moving after an hour or so. Head to the left hand side if you want sun all day and don’t want to move. The following 3 days we actually went on the day/bali beds. These were ideal for us. 85 euros however they give you a card which you can then spend on food and drinks that day anywhere in the hotel. We like a few beers and cocktails in the afternoon/early evening so had no problem spending the 85 which meant the beds cost us nothing. We would have spent that even if we had been on ordinary loungers. I recommend these if you are going to be in the sun all day and use the hotel bar/restaurant. For other beds I’d suggest getting down there by about 9,30 am to secure ones you want. It got pretty busy so though you might find beds later it could be more difficult. To be fair though, people used them and weren’t typically leaving them empty for long. Drinks were reasonable in my view compared to the city prices I often pay in the UK. A pint around 5 euros, wine around 4 euros and cocktails c9euros. They were all good quality, The pool bar was good during the day and they also had a lovely terrace area overlooking the sea that was nice in the evening. People have complained about the music at the pool which I really don’t understand. It’s not at all intrusive, it’s very chilled with a singer or harpist on different days. We just found it really relaxing and a lovely vibe. The pool itself was a decent size with floats available and whilst cold initially getting in, you soon got used to it and it was good temperature and comfortable to remain in for a while. We went B&B and then my husband ate a few lunches in the pool bar so can’t comment on evening food but the breakfast was very typical buffet with an egg station, Plenty of choice and a calm ambience in the morning. No queuing for tables or waiting around. Lunch options were varied, burger for example around 12euros which needed a knife and fork due to the size! I believe the Iberia ham and truffle cheese toasties were also very good, at least according to my better half. We went out each evening for food, A short walk in either direction by the promenade (the hotel has lifts if you don’t want the steps) will take you to you loads of bar and restaurant options. Can’t comment on evening entertainment for this reason. On the last day we had a late flight and were able to keep the room until 6pm for 60 euros, I think pretty standard cost and worth it for us as we got another full day in the sun. I must also call out the staff, who without exception, were great. Overall this was a fantastic stay and I’d recommend it, especially as its 4 star not 5 star, it was excellent (I’ve stayed in some 5 stars which were certainly no better than this). No kids, relaxing decor, peaceful sleep, great pool area and lots of things around the hotel made it perfect for us (late 40s couple). Thanks to all who made it a great 3 night break.

Just back from this hotel it has very friendly staff who can’t do enough for you the breakfast had plenty choice pool area was well kept towels were lifted if not used on time. Rooms wee were in suite which was perfect for my granddaughter and myself she had a room with toilet and shower and I had a sofa bed with another toilet and bath the balcony was large with two deckchairs only downfall it could have had a sun lounger as well over all a great hotel.

“Just needs so tweaks”

Beautiful place, adults only been twice only issues are, although it says no reserving sunbed people do! leaving it until the end of day before you can one around the pool which is selfish if you ask me ! Beautiful place, adults only been twice only issues are, although it says no reserving sunbed people do! leaving it until the end of day before you can one around the pool which is selfish if you ask me ! Twice this has happened with a 8 year gap, had a beautiful room but the glass is opaque so cant see views unless your standing up think they should change to clear glass like neighbouring hotels, foods not the best but overall the hotel is lovely, quiet and spotless.

I've been staying at The Riviera for years and was looking forward to seeing the refurb. It is beautiful but a little style over substance in parts. The room was lovely and comfortable, with a kettle and coffee machine plus coffee pods and a selection of teas. Some of the bathrooms still needed attention. The dining room refurb is nice, but the wicker chairs are uncomfortable, same outside, all looks great but the new pool bar chairs are uncomfortable. All the food is now in one area in the dining room, apart from the show cooking which is the same. This makes for a bottle neck at busy times. Food standard is as usual, microwave has gone, but plates are hot. Breakfast is excellent as are the chefs and all of Roberto's staff, always happy and cheerful. The only downside for us Brits is the evening meal time of 7pm, but l get that it fits more with the Mediterranean style. Med Playa are selling the hotel as a Mediterranean vibe, it does look great, but the major downside is that music starts in ALL public areas at 8am and goes on until after 10pm. It's easy listening and chilled, but at times very loud, particularly at luchtime, l couldn't sit on my balcony without headphones on, so left the hotel to have lunch elsewhere. Not ideal for Med Playas profits! The pool bar was empty every day and used to be full for lunch. It doesn't give the serene relaxation vibe that they're selling. The vip lounge is great with free refreshments (only available with certain superior room bookings) but again, sometimes the music was so loud that it was unbearable. I did however enjoy my stay and as always it's the staff that make this hotel. Reception, bar staff, restaurant and housekeeping are all so friendly and helpful. A great new addition is Fabbiana, the customer relations person. She is so friendly and as helpful as possible. I will return, but on a b&b basis and go out more. You can't beat the location of the hotel or the comfort and cleanliness.
