I stayed in Hotel Fuerte El Rompido for a week in May on an all-inclusive basis booked with Saga. Chris, the Saga rep was friendly, helpful and very informative. The hotel is set in lovely grounds with plenty of places to sit outside some of which were quite secluded. There were plenty of sunbeds available although perhaps that is not the case in the peak season. There is a small supermarket nearby and plenty of pleasant walks. My room was large with a balcony with views onto the local countryside There were two double beds and I suspect it was used as a family room during the summer holiday period. The bed was comfortable and linen and towels were changed regularly by the very efficient housekeeping team. The room safe was 3 euros per day and was operated with the card used to enter the room. Air conditioning, which I used every day / night was effective. As an all-inclusive guest, I had to queue at the bar for drinks but rarely experienced any significant waiting times. In the restaurant the drinks service was very slow at times and I did notice that guests who were paying separately for their drinks received priority service. One guest at my table went to the nearby bar partway through her meal to get a drink to bring to the restaurant as no drinks had been offered. It appeared that the restaurant had insufficient staff to provide a good service at times. The food was variable but I nearly always found something I enjoyed. There was plenty of variety at breakfast including cereals, fresh fruit, cold meats, cheese and also hot items. At lunch and dinner there was a range of salads and hot dishes to choose from. I didn't find that food was always labelled clearly and it might be challenging for customers who have allergies / intolerances or are vegan / vegetarian. While not a fine dining experience, the food was acceptable although the weakest aspect of the hotel in my opinion. Overall I had a relaxing and enjoyable holiday and will be returning to the hotel next year.

My partner and I have recently returned from a one week all inclusive Saga holiday.The hotel is a bit topsy turvy in that you find reception on the fifth floor the restaurant on fourth floor and exit to pools on second floor along with the back exit to the village. The orientation tour by the Saga rep is extremely useful to get your bearings. Useful to know that as a Saga guest there is a small area in the bar where you have free access to tea bags coffee and milk for your room. Bottles of water are also freely available from the bar. The food choice is limited mainly fish and chicken and not a particularly exciting salad bar. Drink is generous and the cava, red, white and rose all good. The village of El Rompido is charming with a few good quality shops and eateries. The tourist office was very helpful. Tickets for the ferry to the beautiful long sandy beach plus a timetable can be acquired from reception. The crossing only takes 10 minutes but there is no shade and 2 beds and parasol costs 12 euros. There is a small bar there but no toilet facilities. Saga offers lots of excursions mainly for nature lovers and there is a free trip to Tavira and one to Seville. Huelva is a 30 minute bus ride away one way tickets from bus driver. Good for shopping. Maps for walkers are available at reception. We very much enjoyed our stay. Entertainment was low key but enjoyable. We very much enjoyed our stay. The indoor heated pool looks inviting and the outside pool plus a hot tub also very good. There is also a smaller Adults only pool. There are a generous mount of loungers and also many on the tiered grass areas around the pool. Towels are available from reception ( we didn’t pay a deposit ) and the Life guard attendant also has clean towels. Huelva is a 30 minute bus ride away ( ticket one way from driver).
