We started two nights here. The hotel is extremely well kept and very clean. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even though they don't have much English. We managed to make do with our limited Spanish and some googling. The hotel is an easy 10 minute walk to the beach. It's located in a small tranquil village. Couple of restaurants (we ate in Esters which was simple but tasty), but for more choice may want to go to Llanes, which is a short drive away. The breakfast at the hotel was nice. Lots of home made baked items. Overall would highly recommend.

This place deserves to be promoted and I am surprised it has had few write ups! We had pre booked in at La Boriza, Andrin for a couple of nights. My, am I glad we did! This is a wonderful place with very hospitable owners who make you feel very welcome. The hotel is a typical Asturian building of wood and ceramic, in a small, quiet rural village only 400 metres from the beach. We had a great room (14) which opened out on to a wonderful, enclosed balcony with 2 chairs and a table. Bathroom was good and the room nice and clean and fresh looking. Television was in the room and free wifi available. The whole place was immaculate and furnished out with style. We had a quiet, comfortable night and more was to come at breakfast! I thought the breakfast was the best we had encountered so far on our travels. Fresh orange juice, cereal, wonderful, thick sliced toast - assortment of other breads, fresh, home made cake, large croissants, hams/cheese and a surprise treat ( 4 figs/nuts in a coating of delicious chocolate). Wish I had asked where they came from! Coffee was great too. This is a family business with parents living in an adjacent property. Our hostess at breakfast was lovely, and as my other half spoke Spanish we were able to have an enjoyable conversion. Llanes is nearby for a visit ad there are lots of natural attractions, including caves. We visited Bufones de Arenillas - a National Monument not far away. You encounter this great chasm in the rocks by the sea where the water thunders through, and on occasions, gushes with enormous power out from the rock/hole like a geyser. You find many hikers as well as all those walkers doing the Pilgrim Route to Santiago de Compostello. San Vincente de la Barquera is worth a visit also. I would certainly revisit La Boriza - a wonderful little hotel and recommend it as a great place to stay in the area.

I stayed one night at La Boriza while walking the del Norte route of the Camino de Santiago. To give the hotel its due it is not targeted to peregrinos and I am not sure exactly who are the target clients. Andrin is a tiny village and while La Boriza claims 3-star status why would anyone wanting a 3 star hotel choose to stay in this out of the way place? The hotel seemed very overpriced for a country village. My room was a standard size, certainly not overly spacious, with a queen size bed, desk and chair and a closet. There wasn’t much space left over for anything else. There were large double doors that opened to a railing above a roof. No balcony but the doors provided very good light. The room was nicely decorated with clean, unscuffed walls and matching colours in the chair upholstery and bed covering. The bathroom was a good size with the shower over a tub. The wifi was poor – slow and not particularly stable with a few dropouts. The hotel restaurant had what looked like a pretty expensive dinner menu but I don’t think that there were any patrons that particular night. Breakfast didn’t start until 9.00am which doesn’t work for a peregrino but they provided a substantial takeaway meal as I was departing the next morning. This is the first time a hotel has done so of the 15 or so that I have used so far and it was much appreciated. The staff were well trained, cheerful and ready to help. I was eager for a rehydrating beer on arrival and this was provided complimentary in place of their usual cider. There is no lift but my heavy bag, which arrived separately, was already upstairs and in the room. The service was definitely of 3 star quality. Overall, this hotel was overpriced for my relatively simple needs but the staff were very well trained and it was a pleasant enough place to spend a night.
