Very good located, free parking lot, clean, cozy and very well assisted by their owners. We came in the low season so everything was quiet an peaceful. The elder lady eventhough her age and health condition, was by far much more helpful, nice, cooperative and sweet than much of the "young genious" we often see in the hotels reception. Big hurrah for her.

“Personal service also during off-season”

Biz it was again. A trip to northern Spain, Asturias to say it correct. Arrived in the early evening by AirEuropa/Swiftair from Madrid at Oviedo airport. Biz it was again. A trip to northern Spain, Asturias to say it correct. Arrived in the early evening by AirEuropa/Swiftair from Madrid at Oviedo airport. The taxi driver quoted 20.00 Euro´s for the drive to the hotel. No, thank you, that´s expensive, isn´t it?. Well, there is also an hourly bus service by ALSA to Gijon and Oviedo. I´ve asked the woman driving the bus if she stops in Salinas and lucky me, she confirmed and also decided that she will show me the hotel not far from the bus station, nice service here. 3.00 Euro´s by the way. And indeed, it´s just a couple of meters to walk for the hotel. The elder lady at the desk doesn´t speak a single word of english, always good to know a couple in local language. My room is prepared, upper level, wooden floor, spacious and clean. Also the bathroom spacious, fitted with a bathtub. Hot water from the first minute, four towels, that´s ok with me. It´s an interesting combination of a stone/wood constructed building and modern technology like a PC screen. Wifi is free and works with a fast connection. Some ten minutes to walk along shops and restaurants till the beach what was done short thereafter to enjoy the nightly scenery. Back for the hotel and despite it is located at the small cities main road the noise level is acceptable and a good sleep for me. Biz calls early the next morning, to early for the hotels standard breakfast time. No breakfast for me?. No way, despite we had a low level communication the elder lady who welcomed me decided that it´s not possible for me to start the day without a healthy breakfast. Fresh baguette, hot black tea, jam, orange juice, definitely ok for me and more on offer. Managed by another elder lady, english speaking this time. The bus, despite it runs a couple of minutes late, delivered me back for the airport later in the day to catch AirEuropa/Swiftair again for Madrid. Well, the usual question for the downsides, isn´t it?. It´s standard for me to contact the hotel in advance to confirm check-in time and ask for transfer options. Well, done it twice, no response at all, that´s definitely something to improve, also the website is written in spanish only. But nevertheless a nice place for a short stay in Asturias.

A moderately priced hotel, OK for a night (bear in mind I had a basic room). Check in was fine - they have limited hours IIRC, I arrived quite late - not sure if they speak English, I got by with my basic Spanish. I assume the hotel has some history behind it (beautiful form the outside), but rooms are poorly designed. My room had a porthole window and a skylight – no curtains but wooden shutters which did the job. The room was not cramped, but no very big either. Enough storage space (wardrobe and chest of drawers including a safe). TV was an unimpressive 15” LCD (no English channels). Wifi was bad – signal kept dropping (I was on the third floor). Room lighting was poor. Some ceiling (sunken) lights, and a “reading” light above each bed which was useless for reading as it dazzled you. A cheap Ikea table lamp would be a very welcome additioin…. Bathroom was fine – spacious, good water pressure. Room and bathroom radiator kept the room warm but heating was switched off late morning. I did not have breakfast but passed it in the way out – looked like an adequate cold buffet. There is a supermarket (and a bakery) 3 minutes walk away. There is parking outside, which can fill up if the hotel is busy – I parked on a nearby road.
