“Lovely stay”

Great stay for 5 days at this exceptionally well run, friendly and clean hotel. The staff make this venue, the entire front desk, Starky in the restaurant and his whole team are so hardworking and remained pleasant throughout our stay. Thank you

I would like to take a moment to commend the hotel staff, in particular Mr. Pablo Preto, who was working at reception. He was exceptionally diligent, professional, and helpful throughout our stay, and truly represented the hotel with excellence. That said, I was quite disappointed to find that, when booking our weekend away through Love Holidays, there was no information provided regarding the hotel closing for the end of the season. This unfortunately resulted in us losing valuable time at the hotel after check-out. I would also like to mention that the spa was closed, which again was not communicated in advance. Apart from these issues, I must highlight that the overall service was very pleasant, the food was excellent, and the hotel team did everything possible to accommodate us and minimise any inconvenience.

We booked this hotel on the strength of reviews which I now wish I had ignored. We arrived for our 10 day break feeling excited and really looking forward to our stay. The room looked good but was a little on the small side with limited storage. The bed was a huge super kingsize but the mattress was one of the old fashioned spring type and not one of the modern memory foam ones we've come to expect in a modern expensive hotel. The main problem with it was if your partner gets up during the night the creaking springs make so much noise you get woken up. The pillows were poor quality and offered no support, there were other pillows in the wardrobe which were just like a nylon bag with pieces of cut up cheap foam in them. I haven't seen pillows like this since the 1960's. Apparently if you scan a qr code in the room you can have dressing gown and slippers and access to a pillow menu, but this will cost you €75. Drinks on the all inclusive menu are more limited than you are led to believe. most of the branded drinks have to be paid for and they do not come cheap. Even mixers for your spirits, you only have access to tonic, lemon etc. from the the draught dispensers. To get a small bottle of tonic water the cost is €4 each. Before 1900 hours one could only get a drinkof either alcohol or a soft drink or coffee by going outside to the pool bar and it was served only in plastic, which I hate. The pool bar also serves food and is the only place you can get snacks between meals and a lot of them you have to pay extra for. The biggest problem I had with the pool bar was even though they served food from there they allowed people to sit around the bar and smoke. I can't believe in 2025 this disgusting practice is allowed. The restaurant is beautiful and if you are lucky enough to get a table by the window you will be treated to the beautiful view of the bay. The food was very disappointing, 90% of it was cold, even when it was refilled it was replaced with more cold food. The food was also repetitive, the same choices every day usually pork and fish. Some of the people cooking on the live cooking section overcooked everything leaving the food dry and chewy. On a few occasions they had joints of roast beef which were so tough I could have repaired my shoes with it. One bright spot in the restaurant was one of the waiting staff named Filomena who whenever she saw us coming broght our choice of wine to our table without having to ask, thank you to her. I took all of our problems to the customer service manager in reception, he told us the inside bar is closed during the day at the end of September but according to Jet2 it was open to the end of October. He also said there was nothing they could do to stop people sitting ans smoking at the bar as it was not against the law in Spain. I disagreed with him on this as the government can not tell you what to do on private property. The easiest thing to would be to not have a pile of ashtrays standing on the bar top. On the repetitive cold food he said this was due to the hotel closing soon so they were basicly running things down. He mentioned that there was a microwave to heat food but agreed with me that I should not have to rely on a microwave. He took my name and e-mail address and told me someone would be in touch to deal with my complaint, as I type this I have been back home for 10 days and have heard nothing from the management. I feel sad having to write such a negative review because I expected better from a hotel which was not cheap to begin with then being faced with the most expensive tourist tax I have ever faced, coming in at just under €60. I will return to Menorca again but sadly not to the Palladium.
