Tomorrow our 12 days stay comes to an end unfortunately. We have had a great time in a fantastic hotel-suite and surrounded by very friendly and helpfull staff members. Nevertheless there are some points for improvement. Coffee and tea facilities should be standard! The same goes for bathroom slippers. And last but not least: the food in the restaurant is good (though a limited choice and a bit overpriced) but it has the atmosphere of a cemetery! For that reason we regularly had dinner at the nearby Moli des Torrent restaurant. Same price level, more coice and really excellent food and a great armosphere. Some work to do for the management here! Oh yeh, before I forget the safe deposit is not anchored tot the wall. One can easily walk away with it.

Firstly a small disclaimer. The Hotel was given to us as an alternative by hotels.com when our first choice hotel was cancelled a week before we arrived in Majorca. However we felt this option looked promising and we were looking forward to our suite and using the spa facilities When we arrived and checked in, the room we given was not like the photos or description promised over the phone by hotels.com. The room we were given had very dated antique furniture, and certainly not the modern style we personally prefer. We went back to reception to find out what the story was. The receptionist was lovely, and explained that not all the rooms matched the photos on the website ( I believe the hotel is undergoing a soft opening and rooms are being refurbished one at a time), That hotels.com should have checked what rooms were available (Fair call) and that they were fully booked and couldn't offer us any alternative. There was a smaller room available the next night but we decided it wasn't worth moving again and essentially downgrading. I can't blame Reads for this disappointing start entirely but I can't help feel that a representation of a room on their website should be more accurate. Nevermind, at least they have great spa facilities... or do they? We soon discovered that other than the pools and spa, nothing else was working! Reads explained that this was noted on their website that they were undergoing repair and would be fully operational October 1st. Okay, fine. But as our booking was made by hotels.com we were not informed this was the case, so needless to say, another disappointment. Breakfast - very decent range of food and quality provided was good. Positive marks here. Minus points for the highly repeative music, rather, it was just one looped song that was played every morning continuously. Dinner - We didn't eat at the restaurant. Generally there were 2 options for each course and prices seemed steep. Mains were 28 Euro. The suite - (other than decor noted previously.) It was large with seperate lounge, bed and bathroom. There wasn't any information provided in the room which would have been helpful (most hotels provide something so that you don't have to call reception for every query). I had to ask reception how to get the TV to work for example, the remote button combination was not as intuative as you'd think. Speaking of TV, the 32" B&O was almost an antique itself, and looked messy with the decoder, Wireless router and cables sitting on the floor underneath. The Minibar was a small fridge in corner of bedroom. Everything was way overpriced Beers were 6 Euro, and small bottle of Champagne was 49 euro! This is the country where you can buy a bottle of beer from a supermarket for less than 50 cents! There were dead mosquitos on the walls and ceiling of the bathroom. We had to plug in provided mosquito repellant during the day to keep them at bay. We had no hotwater for one night and one morning until I could inform Reception. There was no bottled water or any tea making facilities provided in the rooms The Gym and Spa -There was a section of glass missing to the outside of the gym and so was open to the elements. Not sure how long it had been like this but seemed a bit odd. The indoor pool is looking a quite dated. I think the ceiling had been repainted but that was about it. There was a lot of furniture piled up outside the indoor pool area which kind of ruined the romance of the view from the spa. It looked like a lot of the old furniture that was being retired from around the estate, I hope the furniture from our suite will soon join it! Perhaps could be located else where. I note also an old table next to the path on the way to our suite hadn't quite made it to the pile... The outdoor pool and bar - didn't seem to be well attended. We wanted to go for a swim but there were no towels. We eventually found someone to get us one but he seemed a little put out having to assist. okay, I'm going on a bit here, but it seems the beauty is in the details, and there were a number of things that would greatly improve this from an average hotel to a great one. It's clearly a beautiful building and in a lovely rural setting that has the potential to be fantastic, but It just isn't there at this point in time.
