Arrived in a thunderstorm and torrential downpour. All power was off to the Villas but we were offered a room in the hotel which was gratefully accepted. All ok the following morning and we arrived at our villa. Be aware there are many one way streets and you have to drive round to find the villas, there are 6 together but back onto each other, so 3 on one street and 3 behind on next street. We stayed in Villa 1. Very clean and spacious. There was only the two of us so we didn’t bother with the master bedroom upstairs, the double room and bathroom downstairs was perfectly adequate. On arrival, there were two chairs and an umbrella in the pool as a result of the previous nights storm but maintenance arrived and quickly sorted everything out. We had hoped to be left alone but there were bed linen changes two days after we arrived and then again three days later. We were only there for a week so these changes were not really necessary. When we have stayed in other apartments/villas, the linen has been changed but also the floors swept and even cleaned. This did not happen here. It would be nice if basics like salt and pepper and washing up liquid were available as you don’t really want have to go out and buy packets/bottles when you are only there a week. Bed was comfortable and plenty of comfy seating in lounge area. Don’t bother with the TV. Wi-fi fine.

Okay, so booked with on the beach and all flights, transfers etc. Good. Bit of a walk from the hotel to the villas, much further than I hoped and with a foot injury didn't help. Staff at hotel offered to call a taxi, but felt a bit narked on the suggestion. Is it really that far? The villa was tamarind 1 and was right next to a very busy road. There were 6 or so villas in the block and these were furthest from calla blanca. There are some closer on called de colom but appears you take pot luck on section. The villas are nice and spacious. Three bedrooms, two bath, kitchen dining lounge etc. They are in pretty good nick, minor complaints are, one or two oven hob buttons boken, some pool tiles missing, one air con that wouldn't go below 25. But all in all these were nice villas, just shame about the main road. Still, I live on a main road and by a train station so could zone it out quickly. The maids do a fantastic job and the pool guy seemed to know his job though son got infected ear from swimming. Next time with villa I'll take ear plugs and a cheap pool testing kit. The public transport is excellent, you can track you busses online. The drivers are great and we'll humoured. If I had a pound for each time they pointed upwards to an imaginary button in the air I'd be rich. The local area is quiet but there are some nice areas to eat and some not quite so. It is quiet and very residential. But the menorcans are lovely people and felt very safe and welcome. For us, having a nice villa, our own space and easy access to facilities and public transport were essential and worked for us. Ravers you are on the wrong island. Will be back to sample some other areas of menorca as there is more to this island to discover. Citidella lovely old town.

“Menorca 2019”

Second time staying in these villas and we had a wonderful time, the villa does need a little bit of TLC as there are a few tiles missing from the pool and the air con leaked a lot but the hotel staff came and sorted out any problems very quickly.

We stayed for two weeks in the set of villas closer to the shops. You have to get the keys from the grand Hotel which wasn't an issue for us but if you have mobility issues dragging cases from there may not be ideal. We stayed for two weeks in the set of villas closer to the shops. You have to get the keys from the grand Hotel which wasn't an issue for us but if you have mobility issues dragging cases from there may not be ideal. The villas are of a good size but very dated and could do with some tlc, as older furniture and broken tiles in the pool. There was only 2 of us so there were plenty of space for us but I don't know if I would want to be there when it's at its maximum capacity. The villa is in a good location walking distance from the beaches and shops. If you get a good deal I would recommend but don't pay too much for them as there are better villas in the area

There are 2 sets of Amarillas villas. One near the main road/roundabout on the edge of Cala Santandria and the other close to Cala Santandria on a quiet residential street. They are about a 7-8 minute walk from each other. We were placed near the main road which was further out from the centre of Cala Blanca. To get to the restaurants on a night in the commercial centre it was about a 25 minute walk. The nearest beach is Cala Santandria which is about a 10 minute walk away. This is a lovely clean small beach. Cala Blanca beach is much further away and the quickest route from our villa was along the main road - not ideal with children. The beach at Cala Blanca is very over crowded so we were happier to be closer to Santandria. The villa itself is dated and need modernising - this did not bother us as it was very clean and bedding/towels were changed every 3 days. Our microwave didn’t work but was quickly sorted the same day. Cala Blanca is a very quiet resort. We have been to Menorca a few times as we love how child friendly the resorts are, however there isn’t much for children to do here. There are a couple of small parks and at Cala Blanca beach there is a cafe which has 2 slides (a long walk to get there). I would recommend hiring a car to travel around to other resorts. The bars and restaurants were never more than half full - most often empty. However the food was nice and reasonably priced. Cala n Bosch is an 8 minute car journey away which is much livelier. There is also a bus to Ciutadella that takes 10 minutes. The downside to the villa was that it wasn’t child friendly. There were 2 bedrooms upstairs, 1 down. I didn’t want to leave my 2 children alone downstairs as they are young. However there was no baby gate and there were wide railings on the landing. I was constantly paranoid that my little boy would fall down the stairs. The resort was just too quiet for us and there was too much walking involved to get to places.
