My wife and I normally choose to stay in 4/5 star hotels but in May 2025 we decided on a last-minute short break and stayed at The Globales Montemar for a week – we enjoyed it so much (see my review of May 2025) that we chose to return, with my wife’s brother, in September. We all loved it so much that we are considering a further visit at some future date. If you are considering staying there, please ignore all the 1 and 2 star reviews – the hotel management are too polite to respond as they would probably wish to, but it seems there are a number of petty-minded people who are judging a 2* hotel by 5* standards! We have stayed at 5* hotels that are far worse in all respects (See my review of Turunc Resort Hotel, September 2024). We have found that the facilities provided, the staff, the food, etc., etc. are amazing for an hotel rated 2*. We would love to mention all the staff are great, but specifically thank Hanneke for her assistance in organising our room choice and for being such a lovely and helpful person. Also, Maribel and her team for the great work they do organising the entertainment. The bar staff (Roman, Adrian, Anna) work long hours and provide an excellent service. The restaurant staff all do a great job and ensure tables are cleared and cleaned very quickly – and Carlos often provides a song whilst doing so! It’s a 2* hotel at a fantastic price – give it a go; we may see you there  I had written a longer review but it was rejected by Tripadvisor as I had commented on other's bad reviews - sadly not allowed :(

“Fine but there are issues.”

The hotel is located a 10 minute uphill stroll from the beach and resort centre and because of stairs/steps to rooms its not going to be easy for those with mobility issues. You walk up Kilimanjaro street so there's a clue. What you get is a clean and well looked after hotel with hard working and cheery staff. Our room was a good size with a large terrace facing a wooded hillside. The AC unit gave excellent control for the bedroom and lounge. There was also a little fridge. Tip. Take a travel kettle if you don't fancy a walk down to the pool bar or buffet. For us the food was fine and plenty of it. We are not fussy eaters. You will not go hungry here although at busy times the catering staff did seem a little overwhelmed. Keeping food hot is a catering issue and it was here too, on occasions. Overall we had a good time and enjoyed our stay but the food issue and the constant drum and bass music around the pool area means we will not come back. Others loved it but not for us.

This was not a luxury hotel and for the price we paid, we did not expect it to be. This was not a luxury hotel and for the price we paid, we did not expect it to be. Our room was outdated (not dirty), we shared a balcony with the apartment next door and there were quite a few steps to our room. The grounds are very pretty and the pool area was good. There were plenty of sunbeds (even in the summer holidays) and the pool was decent. When I stayed, there were quite a few teenagers playing loud music around the pool which does need dealing with, as they loiter in the shallower end making it difficult to use that end of the pool. However, they were friendly and didn't cause many problems. We found breakfast quite tasty, we didn't eat the buffet lunch (we had burgers and hotdogs in the pool bar) and didn't enjoy dinner which was ok as we'd planned to eat out anyway. Entertainment isn't the best but the ladies tried hard to creat an atmosphere and engage the kids. That was ok for us, as we went to the beach front where there are plenty of nice places to eat. Our holiday cost £1700 for 2 adults, flights included. That makes £850 each, for a week. If you minus the flight costs, the money that went to the hotel wasn't much. In all, we were treated politely, our room was adequate, there was always something to eat and drink, our air con was good, the bed comfy and a pretty hotel with lovely flowers. My advice, don't choose a cheaper hotel and expect luxury. This hotel was perfectly adequate for the money they make. Holidaying in the UK is just as expensive. Cala llonga is beautiful. I know where I'd rather be. It was a relaxing and friendly place and we had a lovely time. After all that, we've booked to come back in July.
