“A lovely stay - for over 50s”

Unfortunately they gave us two very small rooms on arrival. Our one had a small double bed in it but we had booked two twin rooms using Booking.com. Only after we provided proof of our booking twin rooms did they finally offer us a twin room on another floor which was larger and more suitable to two friends staying together but also was more acceptable for the price of €800 for two people for 4 nights. They told us on arrival at reception that the hotel is completely non smoking, even on your own balcony. Instead you have to go outside the hotel front door! However the staff, the welcome, the drinks by the pool and the pool bar food are all lovely and whilst i wouldn't travel to a hotel quite so restrictive again I would recommend the hotel to anyone over 50 who seeks peace, extra cleanliness, really nice decor/surrounding's all within a 2 minute walk to the sea from the pool and a few minutes walk to the restaurants where the food was outstanding every morning and every night.

“Top hotel”

Very good hotel. Quite and clean. All People working the are very nice. Just had to pay 150 euro more to get a really see view from the top floor. But the room was really nice. A small attention for our wedding day was really cool. Breakfast various and good

“Average doesn't mean bad.”

An average hotel a short distance from the beach. This is the third different Hipotels we have stayed at in Cala Millor and our second 4 Star. The hotel is clean and the entire staff are very friendly and helpful. The room we had on the left side on the building on the third floor, we had a balcony where you could see the ocean. The problem is, there is a club and they play loud music until midnight and the windows don't block out the sound out at all, so it is really loud. The room is really cramped and there is very little space for two people to put their luggage. The air conditioner only worked properly the first day and never again. The shower started to leak around the glass but it was fixed within 90 minutes. The room was clean but the mattress had to be turned over. The WiFi is great. There is a tiny gym and an indoor pool. The indoor pool is cold, which was great. The waterfall only came on every two hours. The outdoor pool was really warm. I found there is a sauna and a steam room that are shutoff and were never on, which is disappointing. The food was nothing special, but it was good, there was enough variety and plenty of my favorite foods. The pastries were on point. Great work, yummy pudding and cakes. I would not go back to this particular Hipotels because there are better ones. It's not bad, just average and needs a bit of renovation. Other than that good.

I’m here on my final night and I’m so disappointed to only be able to give 3 stars for this review. It really is a tale of two (or maybe three?) halves. The good .. : The location of this hotel is stunning. Right on the beach, the sound of the waves outside your door, the sun on your balcony during the morning. The pool area is clean and comfortable and as a solo traveler I felt good spending time there. Sometimes it can be tricky trying to keep hold of sun beds when you’re on your own while you get food or go to the loo etc but there was enough for everyone and it was completely relaxed. Before I arrived I booked two massages, one for my first day and one a few days later. The first massage was fantastic. The therapist was friendly and professional, and she even recommended me some specific treatments for when I was home to help with a joint issue I have. Her name was Catalina so if you go for a massage, ask for her - she is fab! The reception team were generally friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fresh and plentiful and though I didn’t take it every day, was good when I did. A couple of nights I had a drink in the bar when the entertainment was on, and the staff were efficient and friendly and the drinks were tasty. A short walk from the hotel you will find anything you might need from supermarkets to cafes, restaurants, gelato, amusements.. The bad.. : I had lunch twice at the pool cafe and the first time I had a green salad with tuna, which unfortunately came drowned in boiled egg. No massive deal, but really it should be on the menu. Especially as there were other salads which specified egg and this one didn’t. The second time, I ordered a burger with cheese and when it arrived the burger had no cheese but they brought me a block of Parmesan to grate on to it. The chips were cold and it had to be sent back. When the food was returned to me, the chips had been dunked back in the fryer and were hot but now solidified, and the burger was cold. I had to ask for sauces and salt, and ask twice for the bill. I didn’t eat there again. There is too much great choice around to bother with poor service like this. The second massage I had was poor. It cost €95 and was a huge disappointment. No care was taken, the girl didn’t seem bothered about what she was doing and was really unfriendly, as well as the massage itself being rubbish. I almost left after the first 5 minutes but didn’t want to cause a scene so I just carried on and put it down to experience. The shower in the room didn’t keep temperature. Not a massive issue because I don’t mind cold water, but it was annoying and for a longer stay, would have bothered me. The Ugly: I arrived at 1am in the morning and had a massage booked for 10am. The guy at check in explained everything to me, that I should get a ticket from reception for the spa and had to pay in cash etc. In the morning, I was just about to head out to breakfast at about 920, when the phone in the room rang. They were ringing to remind me about the massage at 10am. I don’t understand this. I’m an adult, I’ve made a booking, I’m not late, I’ve paid to come on holiday for a break from pinging emails and ringing phones. I don’t need you checking up on me. It was really annoying. However, the reception staff when I got down there were friendly and helpful enough that I soon forgot it .. and had a lovely massage But Fast forward to my last evening.. I’m asleep after a day of sunbathing. Suddenly I’m awoken to the phone ringing. It’s reception again. A man is asking me what time I am leaving the following day. I ask him why? He says if I am going early in the morning then they will make me an early breakfast. I say no, that won’t be necessary. He continues to ask what time I’m leaving. I’m annoyed by this point so I say I’ll speak to you when I come downstairs because I am resting. He ignores me and continues to ask me when I am leaving. I honestly felt like, even though I’m still on my holiday and paying to be there, they were more concerned with the incoming guests and I didn’t matter anymore. I had to be quite firm in saying I would talk to them when I got downstairs. Having been rudely awoken from my sleep, I got ready and went down to go out for the evening. I stopped at reception to be met by some sour faced man I had never seen before who tried arguing with me about why he needed to phone me. I just smiled and told him everything was fine and went out for the evening. I’m 45 years old and I’ve stayed in hotels all over the world. I have never, ever, ever, been disturbed in my hotel room by reception, let alone to be asked what time I am leaving. I was shocked and appalled, and it left a very sour taste in my mouth after what was otherwise, generally, a good stay. What. A. Shame.
