Arrived at the Protur Bonaire Aparthotel with our whole family including 2 grandchildren for a 'big birthday' holiday and from the minute we stepped through the door the service was impeccable. From reception staff, bar staff, restaurant staff, pool bars, cleaners and reps.......everyone was so helpful and pleasant. I have to give a shout out to Miguel the lovely waiter who high fived everyone of the children at breakfast....his smile and personality was outstanding. The apartments are amazing. Loads of space, air conditioned and spotlessly clean. The cleaners did an amazing job. TV's in living room and bedroom if you have time to watch anything but lots of English channels The food...I can't rate the food highly enough!!. Abundance of choice every day and throughout the day. The restaurant, pool bar and splash pool bar food was non stop. Great if you have fussy eaters or grazers....lots to choose from and the kids loved picking their own. I saw one little boy tucking into a breakfast sausage and Nutella !! He was absolutely loving life The kids entertainment was second to none. Even I looked forward to the kids disco at night. All the staff interacted with every age group and the kids loved it. The food in the restaurant was delicious - all freshly cooked and constantly being replenished. Even a picky eater would find something delicious here. Breakfasts covered all bases - full English (proper English sausages) . Continental, cereals, yogurt, fruit - you name it , it was there. Although I didn't see any porridge. Lunches and evening meals were the same - wonderfully varied and tasty ! (Waiter service for alcoholic beverages in the evenings but help yourself to all soft drinks. Proper Sprite, Fanta, Coca Cola including sugar free. ) The poolside cocktails were amazing too. Outside of the resort -( if you wanted to leave that is) - is a short 5 minute walk to Cala Bona along the front to shops and restaurants serving traditional food and drinks. Lovely for a stroll to walk off the great breakfast in the hotel. Carry on walking for maybe another 15/20 minutes and you arrive at Cala Millor which is a livelier town with a great funfair/play area for the kids. If you didn't want to walk, a taxi is 5 euros each way I have travelled extensively and stayed in 5* hotels but I have to say this was one of the best hotels I've stayed in in over 40 years. So good that we've all booked to come back next year - all 10 of us !! Highly recommend this hotel and if you do decide to book - have an amazing stay !!

“Great stay”

Wonderful hotel. Came back after a weeks holiday. Catered for kids, you wouldn’t come here if you didn’t have them! Rooms were spacious and some of the cleanest we’ve ever stayed in (and I’m picky!) Wonderful hotel. Came back after a weeks holiday. Catered for kids, you wouldn’t come here if you didn’t have them! Rooms were spacious and some of the cleanest we’ve ever stayed in (and I’m picky!) We were in block 2. Food was great and always something for someone! The pools were fab! Only down side is the slide doesn’t take you all the way to the bottom people we’re getting stuck half way! Staff were so friendly.

“Great hotel for young children in a nice area”

Overall a lovely hotel with great facilities for young children in a convenient location. We had our 10 year old and 4 year old with us on a trip with friends with children the same ages. 10 night stay. Rooms - spacious with good amenities. Didn’t think the cleaning was great, we kept the room tidy so it wouldn’t have been hard for the cleaners but the floor was never done properly, don’t think they spent very long in there at all. However I wouldn’t say it was bad enough to negatively affect our stay.. just a point to improve. Food & drinks - we were self catering and didn’t eat at the hotel so can’t comment on the food.. but the drink choice was good and all the cocktails we tried were nice and made fresh. Bar staff were very friendly. Entertainment - definitely catered to young children. Our 10 year old would have been bored if he didn’t have friends with him. I find this to be the case in all Spanish hotels of this type though so nothing we were not expecting. The kids karaoke and talent nights felt like a bit of a cop out, but the entertainment team were kind and friendly and I saw them a few times making a big effort with the kids. Location - we had rented a car so it was easy for us to explore different areas, cala bona itself has a small marina though and this is within easy walking distance. Not far to walk to cala millor either and there were plenty of good restaurants locally to choose from. Pool - great splash park for younger children, our four year old loved it. The bubble and the jacuzzi pool were also great. The whole pool area was always kept clean. We were there during half term so it was busy and most sunbeds were reserved early.. however we are not early risers and still didn’t struggle to get beds, aslong as you are not picky about the location of them it’s not an issue.

My family and I have just returned home following our 4th stay at the Protur Bonaire. We have decided that that this year is our last year. While the facilities are fantastic for young children there are a couple of points that informed our decision. The main reason is the food, we always choose to go all inclusive and last year we noticed a dip in the quality but this year the food was AWFUL. The best meal is breakfast with regards to food but hold onto your plate because if you turn your head it could be cleared before you know it. Meals can be stressful with young kids, having to entertain and feed them. I was preparing food for my 6 month old and had to tend to my 4 year old mid preparation, I turned back and the staff were starting to clear what I had out for my baby. This happens a couple of times. Also, breakfast finishes at 10 but staff start turning off the buffet stations before and the tables start to be cleared, to prepare for lunch. It feels as though you’re being hurried out, you cannot relax. Also the juices are vile, watered down and should be called flavoured water. The food at the splash bar is either overcooked or undercooked. I’ve noticed the ques have gotten longer. My guess is because the other offerings are the same everyday and unless you like chips, pizza or pasta you’re out of luck. Dinner in the main restaurant has gone down in quality, there is loads of it but some nights (most nights) it feels like slop. We had dinner out more than in the hotel, we just couldn’t stomach it. However, food at the onsite Italian is lovely, don’t know why that can’t be done in the main restaurant. Such a shame but with the exception of the food, we did have a good time.
