We recently spent a week at HYB Eurocalas and, overall, had a good holiday. The highlight of the hotel is definitely the pools and water slides, which were fantastic for children and kept them entertained throughout our stay. Families with younger kids will find plenty for them to enjoy.  The hotel sits within a good location. It is within walking distance of the local town and market square, making it easy to explore and enjoy the surrounding area before some of the hotel’s shortcomings became more noticeable. There is also a beach nearby, and the hotel provides a free shuttle bus service to the beach, which was a convenient and much-appreciated benefit. The rooms were cleaned daily, which was appreciated, but they are quite basic and are starting to show their age. Many areas are in need of repair and refurbishment. There were also no refreshments provided in the room, which was surprising for a hotel advertised as 4-star. The food was generally okay, with enough choice to find something each day, but it became quite repetitive over the course of the week. The drinks were one of the biggest disappointments. The selection was very limited, alcoholic drinks often seemed watered down, and the cocktails were overwhelmingly sweet and tasted mostly of sugar. Most of the staff were friendly and hardworking, although service at the bar could be inconsistent. In particular, Issac often came across as though he didn’t want to be there, which affected the customer experience. The night-time entertainment was another area that fell short for us. The shows and activities were fairly limited and did not provide the level of entertainment we would expect from a 4-star resort. That said, the animation team clearly worked hard and did their best to engage guests and create a fun atmosphere, which we appreciated. A lot of the equipment in the amusements is broken. I am not sure why they do not repair said equipment. Many machines just take your money without allowing you to play. One positive worth mentioning is the courtesy shower room in the Lighthouse building, which was very useful on departure day after checking out. While we enjoyed our time away and made some great family memories, the hotel does not meet what we would expect from a 4-star property. It is more like a 3-star at a push. Because of this, we would not choose to return.
