A lovely hotel let down by a completely ineffective TUI representative Grupotel Mar de Menorca is in a fantastic location and, overall, we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel staff were excellent throughout: friendly, hardworking, helpful and a real credit to the property. The accommodation and setting made for a genuinely good holiday experience. It is important to separate the hotel from the TUI service. Our problem was not with Grupotel staff. It concerned the TUI representative and the lack of useful return-flight information on the TUI board. When our return journey became a serious problem, the TUI representative was unable to provide practical help or a clear way forward. Given that we were stranded and trying to get four adults home, this was deeply disappointing. We were left to deal with confusing instructions, urgent payments and a replacement journey to Manchester rather than Birmingham. I would happily recommend Grupotel Mar de Menorca for its location and its excellent hotel team. However, TUI needs to seriously review the support provided by its representatives at the hotel, because in our experience it was simply not there when it mattered.

AMAZING wow honestly this hotel was so so lovely, we have never been to Menorca before so didn’t know what to expect. Already looking to book again next year. The pool areas were brilliant for everyone, the All Inclusive food selection and drinks were the best I have had, and the entertainment was on every night including the pool party on a Wednesday. We went into Mahon town to for the market which was so so good and onmy a 15 minute taxi ride well worth it. Can’t wait to go back xxxx

“JUST A LOVELY PLACE TO STAY.”

What a lovely place to stay, just half an hour away from the airport so no long transfer. Everyone was very friendly and relaxed, its a very laid back relaxed hotel. Our room was lovely very neat and clean, and perfect location for the pool and other amenities. Food was lovely, great selection , we didn't use the snack bar only for ice creams , but the food looked and smelled good. There are 2 shops attached to the hotel a little supermarket/ gift shop and a shop selling pool toys and inflatables. Theres not much around so its very quiet, you can get a bus outside the hotel or get a taxi to mahon. Taxi was about €16 and I think bus was just under €2 per person. Loads of sunbeds so there's no sunbed wars. I really want to take the grandchildren next year if its not too expensive. But im definitely going back. My only moan ...was the music played at the pool, it wasnt giving holiday vibes, I felt like I was at a funeral, couldn't wait for the animation team to put their music on.

“OK as a base.....”

We stayed as a family of 4 (two teens) in a 1 bed apartment. This was a bit of a squeeze for 4' but it was ok and a clean, well maintained room & bathroom was to good specification. We stayed as a family of 4 (two teens) in a 1 bed apartment. This was a bit of a squeeze for 4' but it was ok and a clean, well maintained room & bathroom was to good specification. We stayed b&b and on occasion paid to have our evening meal at the hotel. You could pay 26euro pp for evening meal or 55 euro pp, per day for all inc. if you don't have a hire car and are not planning on getting out to other areas (we did) it would perhaps be best and certainly much cheaper to book as half board or all inc with tour operator. There is only one other place to eat within walking distance. Food was ok but I didn't feel deserving of 4 star. Clearly labelled but repetitive / very limited I felt if you have particular dietary restrictions. Eg some fresh fruit but leans more to the tinned syrupy stuff. Team in the restaurant are lovely and work hard but again it's very far from a 4 star environment. It's over crowded with bottle necks around stations that are too close together for the volume of people. Coffee from machines was dreadful...weak and watery. Restaurant is at basement level, is very noisy unless you're there very early for breakfast or very late for evening meal. The thing that really put me off is the cockroaches - a few of these running around restaurant floor on different days & dealt with by staff or guests stamping on them. Have stayed in Menorca many times & in many other countries where you might expect cockroaches but this is the only hotel I've seen them in restaurant environment. Pool area is ok. No problems getting a lounger. Some of the parasols don't work well. Hard working but not intrusive animation team. We had a good week, it was an ok place to stay but probably not somewhere I would choose to stay again. This is due to aspects of hotel mentioned not the people who work there...all wonderful lovely people.
