The Roca Bella, is one of those hotels that let its views and natural beauty speak for themselves. It was built in the 1950s, and its architectural design has rounded arches and whitewashed walls amid a sea of blue. Simple elegance, standing proudly on a rocky peninsula that overlooks the fields of Posidonia that reach out to Ibiza. The air quality is amazing, fresh, crisp and invigorating. I was there to recharge my batteries after the closing parties in Ibiza, and I was so happy I stayed there. I love classical hotels, and my room was just that. High ceilings, tiled floors and a large terrace looking out over a small bay dotted with traditional fisherman huts. I was surrounded by the stereo sounds of the sea; to my right, views out to Ibiza and to my left, views inland to Formentera and Es Pujols. This was nature in its purest form. As it was October, I experienced stormy seas, windy nights, hot sunny days and beautiful sunsets, all from the comfort of my whitewashed terrace. My bed was so comfortable, and I slept soundly every night. The room fittings were simple, staying loyal to its classical personality, and the owners deserve much credit for protecting the old character of the hotel. Too many hotels suffer from modern makeovers, and very few strive to protect and preserve the past. The Roca Bella is a shining example that less is more. The staff were a pleasure to deal with. Warm, welcoming and not in your face. They were always there if you needed them and discreet if you didn't need attention and just wanted to be by yourself. The Hotel was spotless, the cleaners were working up until 7 pm in the evenings and in the mornings, they were smiling and warm at breakfast. which was above average. Fresh fruit, breads, sweet pastries, cereals, yoghurts, fried and scrambled eggs, bacon, and cold meats, including Serano ham teas and coffees. It's a Balearic breakfast, so don't expect your traditional English Fry. The Balearics love their pastries, cold meats, and toasts with cheese, ham, and tomato paste for breakfast, as do the Italians, the biggest demographic visiting this hotel. Watching the sunrise as you sip your morning coffee was an unexpected surprise. The restaurant next to the hotel enjoys privileged views over the beach, and the food and service are above average. The menu is simple, but you will easily find something to eat. I tried the menu del dia one evening and had the best dish of my holiday, a prawn seafood-flavoured pasta dish that bursts with flavour and freshness. In restaurants like this, it's always good advice to try the chef's special of the day. The fresh fish dishes will not disappoint. Service was warm and friendly, with attentive, smiling staff. The main attraction of this elegant hotel is its privileged location. It's the gateway to the famous beaches of Ses Illetes, and the natural, raw energy of the place soothes and calms. Waking up to the sounds of the waves washing up on the rocks was another refreshing pleasure. This hotel is not for everybody, it's for those who value integrity and simplicity. not pretentious arrogance. “Perfection is Achieved Not When There Is Nothing More to Add, But When There Is Nothing Left to Take Away”

This hotel is in a brilliant location, surrounded by beautiful beaches. You'll find plenty of restaurants and shops just a short walk away. There are also many moped hire places nearby. There is parking available on site. The hotel itself is basic but pleasant. It is old so don't expect luxury and modern facilities. Breakfast is standard. There are plenty of options but again, don't expect items such as fresh orange juice, avocado, salmon etc. The pool area was always quiet. Possibly due to seagulls and sand flies dominating the area. But there are amazing beaches to explore so you won't be out of options. I personally really liked our room. It served it's purpose and the exotic tiles were cute. Shower was great too! Our room had a terrace area, a clothes rack, sunbeds, dining table etc - it was wonderful. Wi-Fi worked well - I even had access on the beach away from the hotel. Staff were nice enough. We had a brilliant stay.

We have only just got back from 5 nights in Formentera, and it was fab . The hotel rooms were some what basic , but just what was needed , if your not planning on spending your time in your room. Clean rooms, Comfy bed, beds made up daily and a gorgeous view of the beach from our own terrace -which was a lovely little touch . I thought the hotel was practically empty as there was no noise from people there, and we slept really well - at breakfast I realised it was busy , and pleasantly surprise by the lack of noise . The only reason I didn’t give it 5*is because the breakfast could do with a little work (making sure food is hot , and replenished) - but still plenty of choice . The beach is not even a stones throw away and its a beautiful, clean beach. There is a cafe /bar outside the hotel, so not far to walk for a beer 😊 We asked, on leaving , about booking for the same next year . We can’t wait to go back . Definitely recommend to anyone ! Families , couples and solos

We booked 4 days of holidays at this hotel through German tour operator TUI. Staff at the reception is TOP!! Very friendly and helpful for any question you have (information about the island, the beaches, the restaurants, etc.). Both ladies, Erica and Chiara from Italy, are always smiling and 100% helpful in any trouble you might have. Staff in the restaurant is a nightmare, I believe they don’t have the right training for this job! Chaotic service for ordering the drinks, not professional at all! One day we had a sandwich at the Zulamar café, where they work the same waiters that you find in the morning and evening at Rocabella, and it took 1h30min to eat a sandwich (at least 30 minutes in order to pay and ask 4 times the bill!!! NO WAY!). We booked half board and this was a big mistake by our side. Choice of food was very limited but I can accept this as also TUI rated with two stars this hotel. But the quality of the food didn’t satisfy me. Considering how many good restaurants (Bocasalina, Gerri, etc.) are close to the hotel I would recommend accommodation with breakfast only. In this hotel, expect the two amazing Italians ladies at the reception, chaos reigns between the staff, not only at the restaurant but also for the housekeepers. One day they forgot to clean our room and change the towels: this is unacceptable at a 2 stars hotel like in 6 stars hotel. Chiara was really sorry and helpful in providing at least clean towels. The location is a big plus for this hotel surrounded by the sea. Es Pujols can be easily reached in 5 minutes on foot where there are a lots of shops and top restaurants, I would suggest especially Bocasalina. Another plus is that in the morning you can rent a scooter directly at the hotel. If you go in this hotel I would recommend to book a superior room that are renewed, size of the room was also very good and also the bathroom was ok. Overall the room looks more like a 3 stars hotel. Overall I would recommend this hotel but: book breakfast only and a superior room!
