A great resort with a lap pool and a beautiful resort pool. The breakfast buffet was included and wonderful with lots of variety. Location was perfect.

Let me start by mentioning I paid nearly 3k for a week here. It's August, and I know I was in for a ride from whatever perspective you'd like to consider. It's a 4* star hotel near this popular, over-hyped beach in northern Mallorca. And because we travel to Mallorca every year, this year I thought: why not stay over there, ignore the over-hyped Iberostar hotels, and see what this one's about in the middle of chaotic August? Let's start with the GOOD: 1. The food. It's great, there's plenty of variety, fresh options for nearly every taste. Sure, desserts could be that little bit better, but there's always replenishing and variety over the week. It surely beaten the Iberostar chain this time around. 2. The hotel areas. People call it old, they call it decadent, and I imagine they don't travel that much. It's a 4* hotel, and it delivers. Sure, the building seems old and was refurbished, with great taste and style. The pools were clean albeit in need of just a little maintenance, and everything seemed alright. I've seen far worse in 5* hotels. 3. The rooms. Large rooms, large balconies, great taste. It makes you want to refurbish your home, while at it. Sure, not much room to place your things, but not dramatic either. Huge TV with all those Netflix/AppleTV/whatever you need, fast WiFi, bottles of water, safe, cool roof fan, all that jazz. 4. The pools, the beach nearby. The ALRIGHT bit: 1. The staff is very competent at what they do, but I don't find them friendly overall. It was August, so everyone's busy, stressed, and most guests are idiots any way you look at it - it's just the way it is when many behave like in a barn. They could be more polite and friendly, mainly in the restaurant, or the pool, but I still found 3-4 people went above and beyond. 2. I don't feel like there's much to do around, so we drove to other areas and enjoyed them more - Alcudia beach is far quieter, even if not as beautiful, and Pollença is worth a stop. Most people just go out for a walk to digest the food, but it's not like there are many attractions (if any) nearby. The PLEASE IMPROVE: 1. What's this habit of NOT cleaning the floor inside the rooms? We understand how fast cleaning has to go, but again, it's a 3k/week holiday by the beach. The same sand from day 1 was there on day 7. Perhaps it's a "anti-vacuum" policy? Everything seemed clean, but the floor was a miss, every single time. 2. The Air Con saga. You know it, I know it: AC and hotels, the neverending fight. Same here, regardless of what temperature I placed, it was either freezing cold, or turned off so you could bake. That made our stay a bit more uncomfortable during the evening. 3. Water bottles, that excess spending hotels don't want to afford. I appreciate having two bottles of water on my arrival, but seriously, can't the hotel spare a few more over a week's stay? It's a nice touch, costs cents, and goes a long, long way. Fortunately, there are overpriced stores all around to solve that problem. 4. Dining area. Someone mentioned it feels like a canteen, and it's by no means the hotel's fault that some people are short on education. My suggestion would be to add some plants or dividing areas to fill those "gaps" in a cost-effective way. Perhaps that could tone down the noise, and also save your staff a little from extra headaches. 5. Guests still love to reserve pool chairs in 2025. Nothing shouts "chav" more than that lame attitude, and you'll also find them here. Entire mornings of 4-5 chairs "reserved" for the kings and queens of the world, while you and your kid make the most of a single chair whenever you can find it. People will ignore it, but please try to educate them somehow in the welcome materials - there are enough to go around, particularly if people could behave like normal human beings. Conclusion: Las Gaviotas is a well-located hotel next to a beautiful, albeit busy beach. Half Board is worth it, particularly due to the quality and variety of the food served here - I very much appreciated the kitchen staff's efforts. Families and quieter travelers alike will be happy with the two pools with very different vibes, and a pool bar where you can eat some nice snacks, meals, or have a decent drink. The refurbished building delivers within the 4* range. Although there are small details where you can spot the age, the movement to bring a regular, bukly building to modernity is present. Rooms are large and comfortable, bathrooms are clean and well-designed. You'll also have find all the tech you'd expect nowadays, from fast WiFi to a large flat screen where you can log onto your Netflix account, alongside other platforms. There are small details to cover which could elevate the experience for everyone, while creating a more comfortable stay. I do believe it's overpriced, but not the hotel's fault in itself: everything is nowadays across hospitality, and I fear it's not sustainable to keep at it. While I've met many who are returning guests, I think I've had my fair dose of Playa del Muro, an extremely busy spot in the nowadays far too crowder Mallorcan landscape.

Spacious room, breakfast and dinner were decent. Unfortunately, our departure was marked by a humiliating incident, unworthy of a hotel of this standard. We had to leave at 7 a.m. for our flight. The day before, we had asked reception if it was possible to take something for breakfast, as we were traveling with children and breakfast only starts at 8 a.m. We were given no clear answer. The next morning, during check-out, the buffet was already set up. We went into the dining room to grab something quickly, but a staff member came out of the kitchen shouting and ordering us to leave immediately, in front of our children. The aggressive and humiliating way she addressed us was shocking. We tried to explain the situation, but she refused to listen. For the price paid, such behavior is completely unacceptable. In a hotel of this level, a minimum of politeness and courtesy is the least that can be expected, especially when dealing with guests traveling with children.
