Yes, this is a beautiful hotel tucked away from it all in a lovely part of Ibiza, with that magical view of Es Vedra. A lot of thought and effort has gone into the TLC, grounds and design. It is definitely a bit of an Insta property, and you can see it in the magazines... There is a calmness, chic-ness, and laid back aspect to it which makes for a lovely relaxing time. Service can become a little ‘pressurised’ at peak times, and management could do with upping the F&B staffing levels; but all the staff were charming, caring and with a smile. Whilst I loved our suite with it’s stunning roof top terrace, I could pull apart the poor lighting in the bedrooms and bathroom - too much style over functionality - so looked good (until the Missus wanted to do her make-up). If I have a complaint about this place, it is the irritating ‘day visitors’ or external guests coming for drinks or dinner in the evening - for them it is all about the photo and Insta opportunity - some of them were too sell-centred, even disrespectful to other guests, and generally were a PITA! Apart from them, would return for the charm, relaxed aspect, and excellent food and personnel.

We had a wonderful 4-night stay at Petunia. Rooms are spacious, beautifully decorated, and some have stunning views of the rocks. The gym and morning classes are excellent, and breakfast offers plenty of choice. However, service falls short of 5-star standards. At breakfast we often waited to be served, food was cleared early, and dinners/drinks were very slow. Poolside service was also inconsistent. 2 fantastic female waitresses but the rest need training. Be aware the hotel allows outside guests, which makes the pool noisier by day and restaurants busier at night. Children are also welcome, so the pool isn’t always quiet. Music during the day felt a little disjointed and stop/start. Overall, a lovely hotel with great facilities, but service and atmosphere need improvement to match its potential.

To add some background, we stayed at Petunia (group of 6 adults in June 24). We returned as a party of 12 adults in June 25 to celebrate my 40th. The hotel itself is absolutely beautiful and the setting is incredible. However, throughout the duration of our stay there were many children and at moments it's felt overrun with kids in the pool, with spray guns/ inflatables (ignoring pool rules) and all screaming at each other. As adults we were unable to go into the pool during various moments (when we did we got sprayed with guns or 'bombed'). This situation consequently created a very unrelaxing environment. The hotel was very apologetic about the situation but were unable to alleviate or offer up any options as there is only one pool on site. Nor was anything offered to compensate for the situation, which was disappointing. The staff were incredibly friendly and hospitable, but I would be wary of booking Petunia for a relaxing, couple/ adults based holiday due to the sheer number of children and size of the hotel. The question I keep asking myself... would I return. In short yes, due to the hotel and staff (front desk were amazing) , but before booking so, I would call to ask about the occupancy of children, otherwise you may well find yourself in a very different environment/ atmosphere compared to what you had envisioned. Petunia has the perfect setting and recipe to make for an incredible hotel, it just needs to decide whether it positions itself as a family friendly resort, or an adult relaxation destination. Advice to hotel, when there are major issues, small gestures to a long way in terms of offering up complimentary options & not looking to charge 30 euros for an extra hours late check out when there have been issues with the stay.

Was sadly a little underwhelmed by my stay at Petunia. On arrival to the hotel i was told there’d be valet parking but unfortunately not, €1500 a night gets you a dusty spot reversed into a bush with no valet available at 10pm (didnt think it was that late). Although this theme of early finishes was constant as the restaurant kitchen last order on a friday is also at 10 (strangely early for spain also). I think attention to detail is lacking quite a bit here. The room’s are pretty and understated in style which i like, but they do not have curtains to block the sunlight so if you’re a light sleeper accustomed to a dark room, again this will be an issue as you’ll be waking up with the sunrise. Other little things like asking for grilled chicken for room service and getting deep fried chicken, or the iron leaving a black stain on a fresh white top where the iron hasn’t be cleaned properly; this stuff needs to be right if you’re paying luxury prices. (Albeit the staff did offer to clean the top). The buffet breakfast was average, again could be better. The final leaving gift was being blamed for breaking a bin on departure, which i was surprised at and was dropped quite quickly as i think they could tell we were a little disgruntled by this point. All in all it is not a bad hotel, but i certainly wouldn’t go back as there are plenty of other options at this price point that get those small bits of detail right that i felt this hotel was missing.
