We had a fantastic stay at the Grand Muthu Golf Plaza Hotel & Spa. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, welcoming and always happy to help. The all inclusive food and drinks were great, with plenty of choice and good quality. We’d read reviews saying you’d be waiting ages for food and drinks, but that simply wasn’t our experience. We visited during peak July and never waited more than five minutes, even at the busiest times. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. If we’re being really picky, there are a few age related marks here and there, but that’s something you’ll find in almost any hotel and it certainly didn’t affect our stay. We also saw reviews saying other guests were hostile. We honestly never experienced that at all. Everyone we came across was friendly, and the atmosphere around the pool was brilliant, especially during the daytime activities. Of course, you’ll always come across the odd rude person wherever you go even at a luxury five star resort so that’s very subjective and certainly wasn’t representative of our holiday. We didn’t go to the late night entertainment ourselves, but we could hear it and it always sounded lively, with plenty of people enjoying themselves. Overall, we had no issues whatsoever. We felt we got exactly what we paid for, and arguably even better value than expected. Don’t let some of the negative reviews put you off everyone’s experience is different, but ours was excellent, and we’d happily stay here again.

We have just returned from a 10 night stay. Our experience was better than expected as we didn't have high hopes from reading some reviews. All inclusive food was ok we got a bit fed up of the food and didn't have breakfast some days and some days skipped lunch we ate out a couple nights but this is purely due to a family of very fussy eaters and they were bored of eating the only food they liked. Day time pool atmosphere is good staff were friendly and didn't go around pushing you to do activities if you wanted to do them you joined. The staff always made time for my teenage son played football with him etc the young lifeguard was also very friendly and we had a good laugh with him. Music around the pool all day would be good as when its turned off the atmosphere goes a bit dull. Rooms were okay a bit run down but we have stayed in alot worse they were very spacious. Negative for the rooms were my son didn't get a actual bed the sofa was made up for him to sleep on which was not great. Cleaners came in once but we did turn them away 1 day. Air con was not working but was fixed on our second last day we made do wasnt as bad as I thought it would be we did tell reception and we were told a fan would be put in room but was not we didn't chase this up. Air con I think was a problem in most rooms but as I say was fixed by end of holiday. Pool area was cleaned every morning. Sun loungers not a problem we arrived at pool after lunch one day and still managed to get 5 beds altogether. Hotel entertainment wasnt great at night piano bar empty by half 9 10pm , We visited o'donnels bar 2 min from hotel and food drinks entertainment was fab. We also went to San blas 20min walk to a cocktail bar which was good. Busses were easily accessible from outside hotel we went to Los Christianos Costa Adeke and las America's using buses 2 busses max to get you to different areas and reasonably priced.

Mixed feelings about the hotel. The rooms were very clean, housekeeping comes every other day, the bedroom was very spacious but the whole apartment needed updating but you only sleep there I guess. Pool was a nice temperature and the entertainment poolside was enjoyable during the day, the animation team were very engaging and fun. Rubbish around the pool even though there were small bins scattered about, the main bins were overflowing and didn’t seem to be emptied particularly regularly that I saw. Definitely could have gone with some more staff in the bar areas, especially the main bar in the evening, only 1 guy was in there on the Elvis impersonator night and all the tables and chairs were taken up so nowhere to sit. More chairs needed in the bar for the size of the hotel. Also the bar and the restaurant need windows, it’s very stuffy and felt bad for the staff as you could literally see the sweat on their backs as their shirts were sticking to them! Hotel was very impressive looking in the lobby area and around all the rooms etc with the palm trees and general look of the place. Very pleasing to look at. What I thought was a let down personally was the food. Just not the variety or quality we have had in other hotels, my son actually found a piece of glass in the pulled pork one night! I did tell the staff but not sure anyone was overly bothered. We struggled to find anything we particularly enjoyed eating except for the odd thing here and there and the watermelon. Not impressed with pool bar food either, not very appealing and sometimes not even labelled which I observed many people lifting off the lids, having a look then walking off, presumably because they had no idea what some of it was! The pool bar needs a drink menu, particularly for cocktails included in AI as you have to ask and they get reeled off then you have to make a choice on the spot! (Some people may not mind this of course). I wouldn’t say we got our moneys worth for the AI as there just didn’t seem to be much appeal in the food. There’s a lovely pizza place opposite the hotel and the bus stop is literally outside so very handy. For a nice beach I recommend getting the bus into Los Cristianos. Nice walk in Golf DeSur down to the marina and back along the coast path. Hotel says towels will be removed if sun beds are reserved but we never saw that happen and had no problem getting beds. Latecomers were found other beds from elsewhere by the lifeguard. Wi-Fi not great at all, very intermittent. Pool table in main bar broken all week and the 2 by the pool bar were also broken at least one of the nights. Reception staff very helpful.

A honest review of Grand Muthu Hotel... We did book this hotel due to the location away from the popular tourist sites in the South with which we rented a car so was able to get to popular places within 10-15 minutes. The location is fine, but there isn't anything really to do around the hotel. A few bars, food places, mini-market shops. There is a "one stop shop" right next to the hotel which is open very early and has pretty much everything essential you would need so if you have forgot something, don't be too worried. Atmosphere of the hotel was pretty crazy. Take it with a pinch of salt, as we are two adults going on holiday during a school holiday period. But there was kids absolutely everywhere. Sun loungers, splashed by kids. In the pool, splashed by kids. Spending time in the evening outside, you are dodging kids screaming and throwing balls till late at night. Fair warning. When we come back during this period, we will be booking Adult Only, just our vibe. Sunbeds are a premium during the day, snag them early or be prepared to find something else to do. Two pool tables outside (2 euros) are available, but unable to use them as I inserted two euros which it accepted and they seemed to have been turned off. Rooms were okay, had everything you needed, cleaned once every 1-2 days, dated with some periods of the day there was a sewage smell. Our room was two single beds pushed together to make a double (The mattress will slid away from your partner, so be careful) Reception staff were helpful for things we needed and questions we had but we did think that there was certain services like the Gym, Spa and the Spice Garden wasn't explained at all. We never found the gym or spa during our stay and when trying to book the Tex Mex or Thai from the information sheet that said 19:00-21:00, we discovered its only a Monday or Thursday so we wasn't able to dine there either. We had all inclusive which did allow us use of the buffet during breakfast, lunch and dinner service but we found that the airport lounge at Tenerife airport had a larger meal selection. We ended up eating our twice due to poor selection of meals at a buffet. There is food available during the day at the pool bar, but we warned, flys are in force here. The hotel do their best to manage this using some battery operated devices, but they can be seen to get into the salad and side dishes served when people leave them open after dishing up their own food. Drinks for anyone wondering are included for all inclusive but only Amstel, some wine, and some basic cocktails. Any top shelf liquor is an extra charge and the bar closes at 11pm. Parking is available outside free of charge, but it is on a one way system so if you try to park close to the hotel and there isn't any free spots its a 8 minute journey to get back around the one way system. (you may need to walk a few minutes, pick the first spot you can see on the one way street, or pay for the hotel parking at 10 euros per day. We was unable to find the entrance to this so didnt use it, nor pay for it) The hotel itself aside is pretty, two nicely sized pools, with evening entertainment being in the M&M club (Primary use for the kids in the evening and any adults that don't want to be able to hear each other over the volume of the room)
