We had a fantastic holiday and were really pleased with the accommodation, especially for the price we paid! Location is excellent - just a 5-10 minute drive from the airport. There are a number of restaurants, a small supermarket, a pharmacy and a space museum very close by. It is a ten minute stroll to the beach where there are more restaurants and bars. We really liked the pedestrian coastal walk and did this several times during our stay. The bus stop is a minute away and it is really quick, easy and cheap to get the bus to Santa Cruz. There are also tour offices close by to the apartments, who can arrange a variety of excursions with and without transfers. We highly recommend Isla Bonita Tours. Our apartment was spacious and kept immaculate during our stay. It was cleaned every day except Sunday, and fresh towels were available whenever we wanted them. It was nice to also be given pool towels and we were told it was permitted to take these to the beach as well. The apartment had pretty much everything we needed - kitchen area, hairdryer etc. No iron. We had two small televisions but limited English channels. The small patio area was nice and we could see the sea from it. Yes the rooms were slightly dated, but absolutely adequate, comfortable and spacious. Our only criticisms would be that the beds were very squeaky at the slightest movement, we couldn’t connect to wifi (details not recognised) or get the safe in the room to work, but to be honest we didn’t follow any of these tiny niggles up, used data roaming and screwed the bed legs on tighter ourselves! Sometimes the apartment was a bit chilly in the evening. Look out for the bathroom tiles that glow when you switch the light off, we loved these! The grounds at La Caleta are absolutely immaculate with a variety of beautiful plants, lots of lizards, a lovely black cat and the occasional cockroach (urgh but expected in the canaries!) The pool is lovely, the shallow end is shallow enough to sit in. A lifeguard was present at the pool. There were always plenty of beds and umbrellas free. Breakfast was a real highlight of our stay and absolutely worth every penny. The choices varied every day and included hot items such as pancakes, churros, tortillas. We loved the different fresh fruit juices and also the fruit itself - beautiful plums, papaya and even whole avocados. Pastries and bread were lovely too. The staff at breakfast worked really hard. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace to eat some mornings, overlooking the sea and we even saw a bird of prey! It was great to see that the food didn’t go to waste at the end of the session and that the cleaning staff came in for their breakfast when guests had left. Breakfast hours were really reasonable and they are happy for you to go down early on the days you have excursions. We didn’t eat in the restaurant any other time. It’s a shame you can’t buy a snack or drink during the day when the pool is open. Will highly recommend this accommodation as a fantastic relaxing and value for money stay.
