We visited the Abora Buenaventura, for 10 nights form the 19th of July (Yep just in time to watch Spain win the World Cup haha). Having seen the reviews on this hotel I was a bit sceptical at first, but this was soon put to rest. The moment we entered the hotel lobby. We were greeted by very friendly reception staff. He checked out passports and got us checked in quickly. We were given a ground floor family room as requested. Yes, we did have to pay a deposit for the pool towels 20 Euros a towel. Yes this is the first time I have paid to rent pool towels in a hotel, but to be fair. I have been to hotels all over the world and these are a far superior quality of Towel. This was refunded to me when I handed the towels back at the end of our stay. The hotel itself is very clean, with staff working tirelessly to keep it that way. The hallways could do with a lick of paint and probably new carpet being laid. Pools: The entertainment side pool. Where no towels were allowed to be placed down until 8am. Which was perfectly run by the staff. The pools are freshwater and kept very clean. The other pool beds are laid out a bit earlier, but you were still not allowed to just dump your towels and run off back to bed. As you would be given a letter about this. If you had not returned within an hour of getting this letter your towels were removed and put in reception. Which I am a fan of. Entertainment: The daytime team worked hard putting on games for both adults and children to take part in. Loads of pool games water polo, Water Basketball, but my kids loved the running mat placed in the pool to run across. Good luck making it to the end. My daughter enjoyed the kids club and would either go to the morning or afternoon session. Nighttime Entertainment was the usual mini disco. Followed by a local entertainer putting on a show. This was perfectly satisfactory. Bar: Well, you can never go wrong with a 24-hour self-pour bar in the lobby. Where you can pour yourself a beer, wine, sangria and soft drinks including juices. There is a pool bar are either pool. Where the staff are very friendly. The quite pool bar is open from 11:00- 18:00. The entertainment bar is open from 11:00 – 00:00. During the evening there are even wait staff that will come out your tables to take a drinks order. You can fault this hotel for their bars or service. Restaurants: The main restaurants has plenty of options during breakfast, lunch and dinners. The foot was very tasty with both plentiful or fresh meats and salads. Hot food was nicely cooked and even has stuff for the fussy to eat. Fresh fruit and desserts a plenty. I’ll be honest I wasn’t a fan of a majority of the cakes. They did have an ice cream machine and sorbet to help yourself too. The snack bar which was open from 11:00 -23:00 was also stocked with hot food, sandwiches and prepacked salads. This also had a self-service bar in as well. You can not fault this hotel for their food. Always fresh and tasty. Location: The hotel is nicely located 10 minutes walk from the beach. Supermarkets, restaurants and bar within minutes’ walk of the hotel. Overall: Even though the hotel is clean and tidy. It could do with a few maintenance issues being address. The pools could do with being drained and retiled, As you would often come across loose tiles on the pool floors. A lick of paint in the hallways and fresh carpet. I do understand that this is hard for an hotel to do these maintenance repairs when you are in an all-year-round tourist location. If you are a couple looking for a quite hotel to chill and relax this probably isn’t the hotel for you. It is a lovely family friendly hotel. I would retune in a heartbeat. If you book with Jet2 make sure you book the added Waterpark access to the Aqualand Waterpark and 10 minute journey from the hotel by taxi. Bus service is also available by local bus transport

Great entertainment for children and adults, child’s splash pad was dated with worn paint and dirty floor doesn’t give a good overall look. Reception was polite on arrival but when we reported an issue with one of the vending machines they didnt resolve like promised and nothing was mentioned on their behalf after us going for updates often and no one could provide us with a update so we was robbed of €9. First look at the family rooms you think great but in depth they are very worn, walls were dented and marked up, the bathroom had mold all around the shower area, bathroom door had a big crack near the handle and the lock was very stiff and would lock us in from times and there was a orange stain underneath the sink that could’ve easily been removed. The ac vents were very dusty and visable. Staff were very friendly around the hotel, we didn’t have any problems with food it was brilliant for all inclusive. The drink bars were great too no problems at all. The toilets around the pool area and inside the hotel was very dirty and smelly doesn’t look like they get cleaned regular times throughout the day. However this hotel is in a great location, your spoilt for choice on where to eat and drink. Beach is a 10 min walk straight down the road. All in all it’s a great hotel in terms of food, entertainment and location, but is lacking cleanliness in toilets and bedrooms and in and around the pools.

On one evening I went and had a prawn dish, just to find they hadn’t prepped the prawns properly and they still had their guts in, this happened right the way through the week.. drink machines kept chucking out dishwater drinks, the cocktails are made with a machine and are absolutely disgusting. The rooms are okay, they supply a kettle and cups - NO TEA/COFFEE OR MILK. So absolutely pointless having the kettles etc in the room. I want to bring a coffee up from the food hall and was stopped as I left. The pools are filthy, in one of the kids pools you could see the scum floating on top of the water .. In the hot tub pool by the bar, you could feel the slime floating around.. your only aloud very small rubber rings in the pool but shops are happy to sell water guns .. I come from the very south of England where people are polite and respectful but hear nothing but rude people and really not helpful Not some where I’d go again … get what you pay for I suppose
