Hotel Riu Palace Maspalomas is celebrated for its exceptional cleanliness and attentive service, creating a tranquil and elegant atmosphere. Many travelers commend the spacious, modern rooms and outstanding amenities, including beautiful pools and high-quality dining.

Riu Hotels are a different class !!
This is only the second time in my sixty years have I ever stayed at Riu Hotels, Last year we stayed at Riu Monica in Nerja and then last week we spent 2 weeks in the magnificent Riu Palace in Maspalomas. What a fantastic hotel this is. The location is perfect for the relaxing holiday, it is only a 5 minute walk to local bars or a 15 minute walk to 25 bars and shops on the sea front. I honestly can not reccommend this hotel highly enough. There was not one day that we could not get a sun bed, in fact we got the same sunbeds every single days even though some days we didnt go down to the pool until the afternoon.

Hotel's favourite review
Overall, A Beautiful Hotel with a few improvements needed unfortunately
We've stayed in this Hotel many, many times now over the years (approximately 30 times)
Each time we stay, the hotel grows on us more, we do love it... although there are a few problems (nothing is perfect unfortunately)
Location is excellent right overlooking the Sand Dunes with the most stunning outlook.
It's extremely clean throughout. Rooms are very comfortable.
Great value for money, because the quality is lovely.
Most staff are very friendly.
'Loretta' on the Front Desk/Reception is excellent, her customer service skills & friendliness should be commended, such genuine interactions with all, both checking us in & throughout our stay.
'Adam', the concierge is so so lovely & very friendly, he's such an asset to the hotel.
'Maria' in the main buffet restaurant is such a lovely person, she's so kind & genuinely lovely, again... a complete asset to the hotel.
'Antonio' the Chef is amazing also, so friendly & Helpful.
Many of the waiters are great, 'Jesus' also.
Overall, this is a very well run hotel with an excellent manager, 'Marisa'
On average, there is still a slightly older clientele here at this hotel, although a lot more of a mixed age demographic since the refurbishment a few years ago...although you can sense this is annoying some of the older guests here that younger people are coming here, & have the money to do so.
The refurbishment of this hotel is to a high standard.
There is however, an outdated, sexist & discriminatory dress code for men in the evening. Smart shorts are NOT allowed to be worn inside at all. Yet women can wear shorts, tiny strap tops, also they come to dinner sometimes with wet hair, with their flesh hanging out all over the place.
This seems acceptable for women at dinner as there is NO dress code in place for Women, this is VERY sexist.
We like to wear trousers for the buffet dinner, however there is absolutely nothing wrong in a pair of Smart & Tailored shorts! Infact they look very smart.
My point is...No, to beach wear, no caps, no vests, but...saying no to shorts is quite frankly ridiculous.
A dress code of no shorts for the Krystal restaurant is understandable & that's about where the line should be drawn.
Riu... move with the times please, it's 2025.
Great ✅️
✅️ Spotlessly clean throughout the hotel
✅️ Large rooms
✅️ Comfortable beds
✅️ Great bathrooms
✅️ Great Housekeeping in general, let down sadly by a small amount of money going missing from a bedside drawer in the room. Marisa, the hotel manager dealt with this in a very professional manner
✅️ Great food at the buffet
✅️ Spanish Restaurant is good
✅️ Krystal Restaurant is great
✅️ Good bar service in general
✅️ Most staff are friendly (Loretta on Reception/Front Desk is EXCELLENT)
✅️ Evelyn & Maria are excellent within the restaurant
✅️ Adam the concierge is excellent
✅️ Great location
✅️ Great pools and Pool areas
✅️ Riu Class Diamond status recognised with gifts
✅️ Good gym (although sometimes hot)
✅️ Spa area
✅️ Adults only
✅️ Turndown service
✅️ The Dukesband & Queen Tribute is AMAZING!!!
Samuel Guedes as Freddie Mercury is INCREDIBLE!
✅️ Very visible and competent Female hotel manager (Marisa) She's extremely friendly, Genuinely a lovely person who you can approach easily & talk to.
Could be improved ❌️
❌️ Constant 'Scraping' of sunbeds on the concrete, the beds are only aluminium & very light in weight, & so they can be easily lifted up to move them around & not scraped around really noisily, this was very annoying
❌️ Sunbeds are VERY hard & uncomfortable to sit on all day
❌️ Gazebo style sun Canopies are a bit annoying as it's too much of a 'one size fits all approach' for the shade or sunshine. They don't open & close from both ends. This either plunges people into the shade or sun if one person decides or doesn't agree!
❌️ Small amount of cash taken from bedside drawers in our room. It's not the money that bothers us, it's the principle that someone's helped themselves to €20 of our money, in both notes & coins.
❌️ Outdated, sexist & discriminatory dress code for men in the evening. Smart shorts are not allowed to be worn inside at all at the buffet, yet women can wear shorts & tiny strap tops, also wet hair seems acceptable for women at dinner.
Sexist. Outdated. Discriminatory. NO dress code is in place for Women though, why is this???
❌️ Charges for the use of the in room safe in a 5 star hotel is UNACCEPTABLE. Riu, please scrap the charge for the in room safe in a 5 star hotel
❌️ Ice machines are turned off early evening. These machines should be placed inside a stairwell & behind a door, to enable them to be left on at all times.
❌️ Entertainment finishes far too early at approximately 10.30pm. This should be offered until at least 11.30pm even if it means the glass doors are closed across (for help with the noise/nearby rooms) It's ridiculous it ends at 10.30pm!
❌️ Air Conditioning in the gym kept being turned off for the first few days of our stay, so it was too hot on many occasions to use the gym. It was only after asking many times for it to be left on, that it was finally cool enough to use the gym.

What a week that was!
I cannot fault the hotel, the building, our room, the food and waiting staff, service, cleanliness and atmosphere. Even though it’s a large (child free) hotel, it never felt crowded and was always quiet and peaceful. The evening entertainment was generally of a decent quality. We’ll be back.

Relaxing Holiday
The service and staff were absolutely perfect, The only downside for me was that the Mustafa Bar was only open until 1800hrs. It would have been ideal to able to sit there of an evening watching the sunset and having a drink after a very nice meal in the El Oasis.

Unforgettable stay
The stay at the Riu Palace Maspalomas hotel far exceeded our expectations. Aside from the location and the facilities, which are exceptional, the service received and the gastronomic offerings stand out above all.

Key features of the moderation of reviews
There is an automatic system that detects offensive language, in which case the review will not be published. If an owner reports one of the reviews, the review will be re-evaluated and, if it fails to comply with our content standards, it will be taken down.
Our criteria for collecting guest reviews
After getting home from the trip booked with us, the customer will receive an email asking them to review different aspects of each of the services booked. The system only allows the booking holder to complete this review and only once.
When will my review appear on the website?
Reviews typically take less than 24 hours to appear on our website. The process may take longer if our team of moderators have to examine the review in more detail.
How long will my review stay on the website?
Once it has been published, your review will automatically appear in the summary of reviews and if it is considered a featured review (based on publication date, length and quality of content), the complete review will also appear. Said review will not appear or will disappear from the system if it contains offensive language or if it is reported.
Can I get a reward for my opinion?
No. Reviews written in exchange for personal rewards such as gifts, services, or money will be taken down.
Can a review be edited?
No, once a review has been written, it cannot be edited. If you want it taking down, you can ask to have it deleted and not republished again.
Will my review appear on other websites or publications?
Once published, all or some of the reviews written by our members may be used on some of our partner sites or in promotional material in general.
If I write a review about a service, can the provider contact me about it?
No, as the personal data of the booking holder writing the review will not be shared with any service providers being reviewed. In the featured reviews shown, only the booking holder's first name will appear, meaning that there's no way that the service provider can contact you.
