Travelled as a couple - June 2026 (Age 30) Me and my wife have just returned from 4 nights at the Punta Del Rey in Puerto Rico, Gran Canaria (Self Catering) We didn't quite know what to expect from a 2 star hotel but It was a decent price and we grabbed it on a late deal via TUI. We were amazed that it was 2 stars, and felt like we had to leave a review as a thank you for a lovely stay. - GREAT views from the room! - Absolutely spotless room and common/pool areas. - Very friendly staff who were always happy to help. All staff we interacted with were courteous and very polite. - Large walk in shower with great water pressure. - Able to buy 5L bottled water from reception for €1.50 which saved our legs walking back to the hotel. - Hair Dryer was available at request for a €10 deposit which we found to be reasonable and didn't expect one to be provided in the room. - Requested clean towels and a bin changed as self catering and was done with the hour. - Despite other reviews I have seen we found the beds to be quite comfortable up there with the better beds we have had staying in other resorts and slept completely fine. - There is no Air Con, but a fan was provided in the room. However we didn't have it on overnight and room was perfectly fine. (I know this is each to their own) - Hotel was literally 2-3 minutes away from the beach and amenities, with a 15-20m walk to a very nice shopping center. - Atmosphere very quiet day or night, Only slight noise from the road but barely noticeable and it's often offset from the sound of waves on the beach below. - Room was equipped with a decent Hob, Kettle, Toaster, Plates/Glasses/Cutlery, Fridge, Small freezer. Basically everything you could need if Self Catering. - Plenty of sunbeds and never had an issue getting 2 at any time of day. - Tables/Chairs on Balcony were new and comfortable none of the plastic white stuff you see in a lot of hotels, also small clothes line was provided on the wall to dry swimming gear/towels without hanging it on the balcony. Only 2 VERY small cons that we noticed - - Fridge a victim of wear and tear, nothing to do with the temperature and it kept all our food/drinks cold and had a small freezer inside, mainly just a bit rusty on the edges inside but nothing major. - The shower screen wasn't 100% effective at keeping water inside and when shower was used the floor was quite wet but nothing putting a towel down couldn't fix. We were self catering so we didn't eat at the hotel as we prefer to go out and eat in different places each night so we cannot comment on the quality of any food, but from what we saw on boards/notices drink prices seemed reasonable and there was a good array to keep anyone happy. As a side note for the surrounding area, there are quite a few steps to and from the hotel if you want to make it quicker to get to the beach (You could walk around but it'd take quite a bit longer) however a taxi from the main restaurants/shops was only just under 5 euros to get back and there were plenty on the rank so you wouldn't be waiting around. Also the staff in reception were more than happy to ring out for taxis for guests that maybe do not want to walk. I can 100% say we would recommend this hotel and we in fact already have to my parents. Thank you for a great stay :)

“Perfect short getaway”

Stayed here for a short escape and it was exactly what we needed. Calm atmosphere, comfortable accommodation and excellent attention from the staff.

We are massive foodies and wanted to spend our holiday budget on eating at the high-end seafood restaurants down in the harbor, rather than paying for a 5-star hotel room we'd barely be in. Punta del Rey was the perfect strategy. It’s cheap, cheerful, and ridiculously clean. We used the kitchenette fridge to keep our local market finds and Spanish wines chilled. Every evening we'd have a drink on our balcony, grab a quick €3 taxi down to the marina for an amazing dinner, and taxi back up. The perfect balance!

I was looking for a budget-friendly place to work remotely for a couple of weeks, and this place hit the jackpot. Yes, the decor is straight out of a 1990s sitcom, but I honestly loved the vintage charm! More importantly, the Wi-Fi held up perfectly for my Zoom calls. Working from the balcony with that insane ocean view was an absolute dream. Because it's adults-only, there was no background screaming while I was in meetings. The housekeeping team kept the place completely spotless. A hidden gem for digital nomads.
