This was my 4th time staying with my friend at r2 romantic and once again it was absolutely amazing. Luxury ... relaxed .... staff so friendly and helpful. The manager Michael especially. “Relaxing time”

Having just returned from a week at the Fantasia suites booked through EasyJet holidays I thought I’d do a quick review. We had done research by reading other’s reviews so we knew this would suit our requirement for a quiet relaxing break with some sunshine. It is definitely not the place to go for bars, clubbing or drinking etc. The hotel and its annexed Fantasia suites are separated by a block of undeveloped land about the size of a football pitch. Yes we had to walk across this via the footpath and either through or round the main Bahia Playa building to access the restaurant. It is approximately 400m, took only a few minutes and was mostly flat and level. The food was standard all inclusive buffet type meals. There were some meals we thought were excellent and other times we were less impressed with what we chose but we never left completely disappointed. I think there was less choice of everything than at others we’ve been to but by that I mean 2 types of breakfast roll not 4. There was also different bread etc so it was not like anything was exactly missing just more carefully catered. There was pizza and very good chips every day if that’s your thing and lots of fresh fish and shellfish for the more adventurous. Room We had a double room that had a king size bed and not 2 singles pushed together. It had a shower over the small bath and separate toilet. The bathroom was separated from the room by a glass wall which although was fine for us may not suit others wanting a bit of privacy to shower. There was hanging space in wardrobe but nowhere else to put anything so you are living out of your case on the floor for the week. There was also a mini safe in the wardrobe but you have to pay extra to get a code to use it. I think it should be included but if they are going to charge extra they should at least put a note to say that, rather than leaving instructions on how to set it which don’t work until you go to reception and get a code. We had a patio area which got sun all day and was great. Pity it only had one lounger - it wasn’t just us there were others like it - it just makes the hotel look cheapskate. The room was clean and the housekeeping was good. Pool towels were provided in the room on arrival which was great (no deposits or wondering where to go to get them) but there wasn’t any obvious way to change them. There was a mini fridge and a large glass bottle of water on arrival. There was a machine at the bar where you could get chilled water and so I recommend you take a water bottle you can fill up. The staff weren’t exactly friendly - I don’t remember any of them initiating conversation with us - but they weren’t unfriendly and they ie cleared tables or served drinks etc very professionally. There were a lot of different nationalities at the hotel, with lots of French and German but not many English speakers. I don’t think they got any different service than us. The AI drinks menu was limited to the local version of each drink and then charging for anything branded. There were I think 6 included cocktails but my Tequila sunrise had no colour variation and was just bright orange so not sure what was in it but not grenadine for sure. Overall. We were looking for a cheap getaway for some relaxing sunshine which we got. We didn’t want to drink or party. We swam in nice pools (1 in the suites area and 2 at the main hotel) and read etc. There is a pool table, table tennis table, books and board games to borrow, sauna, spa and (cold) hot tubs, gym and daily activities in the main hotel which you can access if required but it is generally suited to probably older adult couples looking to chill. I would certainly book another EasyJet holiday as that all worked very well, and I would recommend this hotel as long as you are clear on what you are expecting and want.

Definitely 4 star. A spacious room with a balcony wide enough to be called a terrace. A bistro table and two chairs and a lounger on the balcony which gives some idea of how wide it was. Immaculately clean, everywhere. One point though. The mattress was thin and hard which was fine for me but just one thinnish pillow and so sleep was a bit fitful. Stunning cared for gardens. I loved them.The pool is small but cleaned every day and more than enough loungers for everyone. People sunbathed around the pool but also on loungers on an area of grass, so enough space but I’ve only just returned and so I’m not sure if that will be true later on in the season as it gets busier. Meals are in the sister ship about a hundred metres away. That’s fine but we had some very high winds and it was a challenge at times to get to meals without being completely windswept since the main hotel is right at the front of the bay. I found the food to be really good. Enough choice. Freshly cooked and as much as you want. Missing the food already. Help yourself to beer, wine, water and juices at mealtimes. Restaurant staff absolutely fabulous. They couldn’t do enough. On the whole the bar staff were ok. The cocktails in the main bar were mocktails really with just a minimum amount of alcohol. Being an older female maybe they thought that I shouldn’t be encouraged! Reception staff were marvellous and so helpful. There was one female receptionist though who was really not particularly nice. She is on reception quite a lot. All I wanted to know was where the bus stop was. She kept me and my partner waiting at reception for quite a while whilst she did something on the computer. It was obvious that she was deliberately making us wait and when she did see to us, she simply pushed a bus timetable towards us, which we didn’t need because we had sorted the time of the buses out but didn’t know where it left from. She grudgingly gave us directions. So me and my partner, both of us elderly females decided that she was either ageist, homophobic or didn’t like English guests. The hotel caters mostly for Russian, German and French guests. Needless to say we avoided her for further advice but we didn’t need anything much after that. The bar staff in the pool bar in R2 Romantically Suites were also ‘chilly’. Nothing to do in Taralalejo but fabulous just to chill and relax. You can walk along the bay and watch those big Atlantic waves come in and walk around the small town. The hotel provides evening entertainment. All the staff work exceptionally hard. I would definitely go again and wouldn’t hesitate to book this hotel.
