First time staying in the area of Blanes and really liked it. We stayed as a family with x 2 teenagers. We have stayed all along the Costa Brava cosdtline and Blanes is our favorite I not sure if I would recommend this hotel as there are some things we loved and others that we found unacceptable. I will try and write a fair review as find it helpful myself when booking hotels. My main complaint is that on the last day we had no housekeepers come to our room. We asked at reception around 4 o'clock as we needed clean towels. We were told that they staff were busy and they get to us soon. We went up to our room and waited until 7.30 pm and still no sign of clean towels. After attempting to call reception who hung up on us more than once my husband had to go down to reception. He was given towels by reception. Staff assured us someone will be at our room asap to clean too. We went for dinner and returned back to the room by 9.30pm and still no sign of the cleaners. When we returned at 11pm the cleaners had been into our room. This is unacceptable as a family to go without clean towels on holiday!! There is absolutely no entertainment as advertised. They have a young girl who comes to the pool for "water games". She plays some music and throws some swim rings in the small pool for the younger children. This lasts a short time and she just stands there. They did have live music & a show in the evenings but we didn't watch these. The pool area isn't the cleanest and my son cut his foot on glass at the bottom of the pool. The parasols are very dangerous in the other hotel 'The Blaumar' Lots blowing across the pool and husband and another guest were hit on the head. Bar staff are aware but didn't intervene at all. You don't actually see any bar staff unless you go and order at the bar. They will let you order and bring your items outside though. But none of the usual pool service like we've had in previous hotels. My son asked for some ice for his flask and was told they don't give ice. A bit mean we thought. The restaurant is a free for all. Some days they greet you and seat you and others you have to find a table for yourself. One evening the entertainment girl seated us and when we returned with our food to the table it had been had been taken by another family. The staff apologized as she had made the mistake. We had to wait for another table to be made up whilst our food went cold ! The hotel isn't modern and tired looking but the price you pay reflects this. The staff are not the most welcoming but didn't find them rude. I do think they need more staff in the hotel in all departments. There is some things we liked about the hotel. The food was amazing, so much choice each night. The dinner does stay open until 10 pm but they do start to pack away much earlier so don't get there last minute. The rooms were spacious for a family room and beds comfortable. The air con is very good and at one point we had to turn it off. The pool area was quiet and always plenty of sun loungers. No music if you like that vibe. The hotel is situated a few minutes walk from the beach. Walking to the main centre takes around 15 - 20 minutes as the hotel which we liked. Lots of shops around the hotel, also a crazy golf. This hotel could be better if they ironed out the few issues I've stated.
