“Excellent stay”

We have had a very pleasant stay in a Junior Beach Front Suite with jacuzzi on the balcony. Our host Asmaa was the whole day in the private lounge for everyone. We come back the next time definitely. The hotel and the apartments are all in front of the lovely boulevard of Carihuela

“Family trip”

Lovely hotel in a great spot for walking the seafront. We had breakfast which had a good choice of items. The only negative is how cold the pool is throughout the year. This means that even on the hottest days guests are reluctant to enter the pool!!

My mum and I went to this hotel together and had a wonderful time. She has MS and is in need of accessible facilities, there were plenty of lifts inside the building as well as many accessible toilets available around the hotel. Outside there are plenty of ramp options, sometimes the only option is a ramp which is usable by all. Furthermore, the hotel is right on the promenade and we could 'easily' get from the hotel to the beach so we could go in the sea and come back and relax on the hotel sunbeds. There are plenty of sunbeds to go around as well as a huge pool. The pool is not heated which did not bother us as we used it to cool down and lounge in our pool ring. It gets very deep at 1.7m and at it's shallowest, minus the stairs, it is 1.1m so children cannot be left unsupervised. At the back of the hotel there is a childrens pool and family area with a kids playset. The kids pool has fun rainbow sprinkler things but is not made for children over the age of about 5/6years old. The bedrooms have brilliant showers, incredibly high water pressure, they are well kept and presentable with plenty of shower gel and shampoo on hand. Bring your own conditioner and moisturiser as only one small sample bottle of each is provided as opposed to the large bottles drilled into thw wall of shower gel and shampoo. The safe is easy to use and understand. There is a fridge in the room. With regards to the TV we had to ask for access to English TV, once we got it we could watch BBC. The wifi is quite useless in the bedroom and basically anywhere but the reception and office area, however there is a lot of seating here is you need to get work done. There were plenty of office workers on holiday doing bits on their computers downstairs. There is no wired connection to the internet and TV's are not connected via wire which makes the netflix feature redundant and useless. Food is gorgeous, there is a chef making fresh omeletes and fried eggs to order at breakfast and freshly grilled meat at dinner. Plenty of fruit, pastry and salad options both at breakfast and dinner. Every night there is a brand new selection of foods, so you are spoiled for choice. I have food sensory issues from my autism and I there would be plain pasta out for me to enjoy if necessary, there was always a plain bread station and due to it being a buffet, I had full control over what went on my plate. I am quite adventurous with my foods though and ended up trying most things and I can say hand on my heart, 95% of foods I tried I loved. My only real qualm with the hotel was the mattresses, they were old and very used, on the last day mum and I saw someone else complain about them and got their mattress changed, we did not think to so this, I wish we had. The mattress were not unusable but past their prime and gave me a bad back. The hotel gym is small but has one of each of the main equipments, a punching bag, two weights racks, a treadmill, a cross trainer, a machine trainer, legs push, a bench, a step and two yoga mats. The machines and weights were clean and well kept with sanatising spray, wipes and towels available for use, the room itself did not feel very clean though. However, it was 'clean enough' for me to do a workout and enjoy myself. The gym has good aircon and glass windows so you can look out at the sea when working out. The staff are great, everyone was more than happy to fill up my water bottle when I asked for "agua del grifo", that means tap water in spanish. All cocktails were wellmade and very strong, which we loved. All bars were well stocked and well kept. With a good range of soft and alcoholic drinks. There will never be any need to ask for a double as my mum and I found out after getting about 6 shots in our glass when I asked for a double jack and coke. The entertainment was fun, Antonio was brilliant. We loved the bingo and quizzes. We also won free drinks cards, we were not pleased to find out you cannot get a cocktail on the free drinks card, not even the cocktail special on the day (this changed daily and would be sold for €6 instead of €9), they only convered soft drinks and beer. There was also something going on every evening in one of the hotel bars. Mostly live music with incredibly talented people. There was only one singer mum and I did not enjoy and did not stay for but every other night we would stay down there until about 2300. Finally, the hotel was also on a promenade with many shops, resturants and ice cream palours. Everything is flat and easy to get to. Accessible if you need to rent a buggy. We had a great day out shopping and enjoyed wonderful chicken kebabs along the promiade looking out at the sea.

This was our first stay, with an age range of our baby of 15 months to his granny who is 77. There’s a lot to like about this hotel, the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the place is spotlessly clean. Rooms are cleaned everyday by friendly cleaners. The hotel is styled as something out of the 60s, but still modern and my wife and I really liked it. The location is great, walking distance of lots of shops and restaurants and the surrounding areas are also very clean. Rooms are nice, we’d a double with a pool view. We’d asked for a cot but were given a fold out bed, but the main bed was massive so the baby was happy to sleep in it with us. Again, spotless with a nice bathroom. The food for breakfast and dinner is decent, better than expected, but my wife can’t eat gluten or dairy and the options weren’t clearly marked with allergens which was a bit annoying. The price of drink in the bar is quite reasonable too, but I did get charged €5.50 for a small bottle of fizzy orange at dinner - which is crazy. Pool area is good, lots of beds and parasols, but the kids pool is like an ice bath and the baby refused to get in to it. Main pool is also quite cold, but it’s a good size and wasn’t unbearable once you got in. Our oldest member was using a mobility scooter, there are lots of access ramps around the hotel, but some require tight turns but wasn’t too much of an issue. All things considered, I would recommend the Pez Espada. It’s very good value and worth a stay.
